Description
Position Purpose
Bear Creek Christian Church is seeking a warm, dependable, and engaging Christian Education and Nursery Attendant. This dual-role position is vital to our growing community as we transition into our next chapter. You will be responsible for creating a safe, loving, and spiritually nurturing environment for our youngest children in the nursery, while also facilitating a deeply formative, storytelling-based spiritual experience for young children.
Key Responsibilities
Christian Education & Children’s Spiritual Formation
- Children’s Worship and Wonder: Fully participate in, or be willing to undergo, official training for the Children’s Worship and Wonder curriculum.
- Implement this Montessori-style approach to children's ministry by creating a serene, intentional, and sacred space where children can encounter God.
- Present biblical stories using the designated wooden figures and materials, allowing children to wonder about the mysteries of faith.
- Guide children through the classic liturgical flow: praising, hearing the story, responding through creative expression (art, play, or quiet reflection), and sharing a feast.
Nursery Care (Infants & Toddlers)
- Provide a safe, welcoming, and hygienic environment for children during Sunday services and designated church events.
- Engage with children through play, reading, and simple, faith-based activities.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety, check-in/check-out protocols, and sanitization schedules for toys and equipment.
- Communicate warmly and effectively with parents regarding their child’s needs, behavior, and care.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Training & Development: Must be certified in, or willing to complete official training for, Children’s Worship and Wonder. (Training costs will be covered by the church).
- Experience: Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, or children's ministry preferred; familiarity with Montessori or Godly Play concepts is a significant plus.
- Heart for Ministry: A genuine love for children and a desire to support families by honoring a child's innate relationship with God.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, dependability, and a warm, approachable demeanor. Excellent storytelling, presence, and a calm demeanor are highly valued for the Worship center environment.
- Safety & Compliance: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and comply with all church child protection policies (e.g., Safe Sanctuaries guidelines).
- Availability: Regular Sunday morning availability is required, with occasional hours for special church events or holy days as mutually agreed upon.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, sit on the floor, bend, and actively engage with small children during playtime and storytelling.
