    POSITION SUMMARY

    Lady Freethinker seeks a Communications Specialist to build and maintain campaign and brand awareness, devise innovative angles to create & disseminate public-facing content via the LFT website and newsletters, and develop & execute social media strategy for our nonprofit animal protection organization. This individual will review LFT campaigns & investigations as well as general animal protection news stories and develop unique angles and ideas for compelling messaging to engage and grow our audience. Ideal candidates will have experience developing successful content including web posts, graphics, reels, videos, and reports, a proven history of social media analysis and strategy development, and exemplary written and verbal communication skills. They will know how to create emotive content, communicate well with the public, pay close attention to detail, be social media savvy, organize their time and tasks well, work efficiently on a remote team, and demonstrate a commitment to animal welfare.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Content Creation: Develops emotive public-facing content for the LFT website and email communications, including landing pages, videos, graphics, detailed reports, and other unique material to engage and mobilize readers to take action.
    • Social Media: Develops a strategy to grow the organization’s reach and engagement on its primary channels (Facebook, Instagram, and X) by reviewing & maintaining analytics; manages the social media calendar through a tool like Social Pilot or Sprout Social; collaborates with colleagues to create timely text, image, and video content; evolves the organization’s strategy and tone of voice to reach new audiences on platforms like YouTube, and LinkedIn.
    • Social Listening: Identifies opportunities for the organization to participate in relevant news stories and online conversations by tracking trending topics and hashtags; responds to comments, questions, mentions, and direct messages in a timely manner.
    • Growth Strategization: Identifies & proposes opportunities for op-eds, blog posts, or other content to further reach LFT’s audience. Liaises with staff in campaigns & investigations to plan & develop upcoming materials.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated expertise in WordPress and savvy with website updates, graphic design, social media post creation, and video production
    • Demonstrated experience successfully creating emotion-provoking public-facing content in a variety of formats
    • Demonstrated experience strategically engaging audiences on different social media platforms through organic posts through careful analysis of data
    • Demonstrated experience working in a remote team environment and collaborating with colleagues on shared projects
    • Demonstrated experience developing high-quality creative content (text, image, and video) that advances strategic goals
    • Proficiency with graphic design and video creation for social media
    • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and communications tools
    • Able to commit to working Pacific Time business hours of 9 AM - 5 PM with flexibility to work non-traditional hours as needed
    • Demonstrated commitment to advancing LFT’s values, mission, and goals, with an understanding of animal welfare advocacy

    HOURS & RATE

    Full-time position, 40 hours/week during normal business hours Pacific time.
