    Description

    About NBTS:

National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) unrelentingly invests in, mobilizes, and unites our community to discover a cure, deliver effective treatments, and advocate for patients and their care partners. NBTS is a leading policy advocacy and research organization as well as a convener of brain tumor research leaders including industry, regulators, funders, clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates. We also provide resources and personalized support to patients and families, and we bring all members of the brain tumor community together each year through our walks, races, community events and Gray Nation Endurance programs. Our results include paradigm-shifting research discoveries, the development of new treatments, increased federal funding for brain tumor research, innovative new clinical trials, and opportunities for entrepreneurship and venture philanthropy to benefit brain tumor research and health care delivery.

While we have seen significant progress in terms of scientific understanding of brain tumor biology, we are unsatisfied with the status quo of today’s treatment options. NBTS continues to invest in new ideas and research poised to incent the development and realization of treatments that dramatically increase survival and quality of life for patients.

    Position Summary:

Join a collaborative and relentlessly results-driven Development team as we carry out our mission of conquering and curing brain tumors—once and for all. The Assistant Director of Community Fundraising will report directly to the Director of Community Fundraising and will work closely with other staff on the Community Fundraising team to advance the strategic priorities of NBTS and execution for Fundraise Your Way and Gray Nation Endurance initiatives. This position will oversee aspects of both programs, including overseeing select Fundraise Your Way events, as well as manage and host select endurance charity teams in established races, and will provide programmatic support as directed across the Fundraise Your Way and Gray Nation Endurance programs. This position will work to ensure a positive volunteer and fundraiser experience through appropriate recruitment, recognition, retention and succession.

    • In partnership with the FYW team, develop and implement strategic plans for program assessment, growth, and development aligned with national fundraising goals.
    • Collaborate with colleagues across the Development team to identify opportunities for national corporate partnerships, promote donor engagement, and cross-promote revenue streams within assigned regions.
    • Manage and cultivate an assigned donor prospect portfolio, identifying opportunities for deeper engagement and giving.

Program & Event Leadership (FYW & GNE):

    • Serve as a front-facing NBTS ambassador for assigned programs and initiatives. Plan for, travel to, and serve as staff lead for applicable on-site FYW events and GNE race weekends.
    • Serve as lead for a portion of the FYW program, including recruitment, support, cultivation, and retention of committed Event Organizers.
    • Act as P2P fundraising lead for assigned GNE charity teams, overseeing all aspects of program execution, including recruitment, applications, fundraising progress, communications, stewardship, logistics, and race-weekend activities.
    • Build and maintain relationships with Charity Partner Program (CPP) contacts and external vendors to support successful event execution.

    Volunteer & Fundraiser Experience:

    • Deliver a high-quality volunteer and fundraiser experience through effective communication, coaching, recognition, stewardship, and mission delivery.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal NBTS teams as needed to support integrated constituent engagement and communications.
    • Assist with post-event stewardship and recognition activities across P2P revenue streams.
    • Manage and fulfill materials and merchandise requests to support volunteers and events.
