    The position is to be filled as soon as possible, on a permanent basis. The duty station is home-based with a flexible location or within one of our country offices. The role may be based in most countries, subject to feasibility (e.g. legal, tax, and operational considerations).

    Are you ready to support our goal to strengthen a strong global voice and build our new international positioning across selected global and specialist media? Are you passionate about shaping impactful narratives and strategic communication to generate impact? We are looking for a Global Media & Communications Manager who combines strategic thinking with strong operational skills and international media expertise.

    As Global Media & Communications Manager, you will play a key role in strengthening Welthungerhilfe’s international visibility and positioning. You will work at the intersection of strategy and execution, contributing to a cross-organizational initiative that defines and prioritizes topics of global relevance. Your task is not only to translate complex humanitarian and development expertise into compelling narratives, but to strategically position these narratives in international media. You will help build structures, processes and relationships that enable Welthungerhilfe to act as a prominent and credible voice in international debates.

    Your responsibilities

    • Develop and implement an integrated international communications strategy for priority stakeholders – from concept to delivery.
    • Proactively identify opportunities and pitch high-quality content to selected international and specialist media.
    • Draft, refine and place op-eds and comment pieces in close collaboration with senior leadership and technical experts.
    • Build and maintain relationships with editors and journalists in relevant international outlets.
    • Establish and manage an international press distribution list as well as a focused media monitoring system to track visibility and resonance.
    • Lead editorial planning for the international website and produce long-form articles, interviews and expert explainers tailored to international stakeholders.
    • Drive cross-team alignment on priority topics and communication processes in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders.
    • Design and facilitate workshops and internal alignment processes.
    • Apply agile working methods to effectively steer projects and workflows.Use AI tools responsibly to support research, transcription, analysis and workflow efficiency.

    Your profile

    • A Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field preferred.
    • At least 5 – 7 years of professional experience in international communication ideally within an INGO, multilateral organization or comparable environment.
    • Experience working with international editors and journalists.
    • Strong skills in content development, research and writing.
    • Proven experience in project management, ideally in international or cross-organizational settings.
    • Ability to navigate complex structures and work collaboratively across teams.
    • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on implementation skills.
    • Fluent English (written and spoken) at native speaker level is required.
    • Proficiency in German is a strong asset.

    Level of Language Proficiency
