We provide intensive support and services to 3,500+ survivors and children every year and reach 10,000+ community members through community events and preventive education workshops. We are dedicated to developing innovative programs that meet the complex needs of our diverse community and that align with our organizational values.

As an organization led by and for people of color and survivors of violence, we care deeply about our team’s wellness. We offer unlimited PTO and flexible work schedules, a hybrid workplace, health benefits coverage up to 90% for staff and their families, a 403(b) retirement plan, a staff led wellness committee, time to play and laugh together, and more.

    A Great Fit

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, organized professional looking to build a career in nonprofit fundraising while advancing social justice. As Development Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Associate Director of Individual Giving and Operations and gain hands-on experience in donor stewardship, fundraising administration, database management, and special events.

We are a small, but mighty team! We’re looking for someone with strong administrative and organizational skills who is eager to learn, takes pride in getting the details right, and is comfortable jumping in where needed. As part of our small but mighty team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across VIP and interact with donors, partners, and members of our Board of Directors.

    What You’ll Do

    • Support individual and corporate fundraising efforts, including donor and prospect research.
    • Prepare gift acknowledgments, thank-you letters, and other donor correspondence.
    • Maintain accurate donor records, gifts, interactions, and notes in VIP’s donor database.
    • Generate donor reports, prospect and mailing lists, and other fundraising data.
    • Help keep development files, documents, and procedures organized and up to date.
    • Support fundraising events, including VIP’s annual benefit, with event logistics, communications, materials, donor lists, sponsor recognition, and follow-up.
    • Provide administrative support to the Associate Director, including calendar management, meeting agendas and notes, and follow-up.

    Specific Job Requirements

    • 1-2 years of nonprofit fundraising, administrative, or related work experience, or relevant degree/certification program.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, with ability to engage diverse audiences.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively.
    • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
    • Familiarity with CRM/donor databases (experience with Bloomerang a plus)
    • Fluency in English is required; Spanish fluency is a plus.

If you’re excited about this opportunity but don’t meet every qualification listed, we still encourage you to apply. We value transferable skills, a willingness to learn, and the different experiences candidates bring to their work.

The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and do not discriminate on the basis of any characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
