    About the Position

    The Youth Organizer and Trainer is a passionate, organized, collaborative, detail-oriented team player who will support the evolution and implementation of The Action Lab’s youth organizing work. This role combines political education, organizing training, coalition organizing, community and partnership building and development, event planning, coordination with The Action Lab’s cultural organizing staff, and project coordination.

    Working closely with the Director of Youth Organizing and staff across the organization, the Youth Organizer and Trainer will develop curricula, lead and co-lead capacity-building work, plan and help lead citywide coalition meetings and processes, coordinate coalition campaigns, and plan meetings, events, travel, and logistics. The Youth Organizer and Trainer should have a deep commitment to youth leadership, leadership development, relational organizing and strategic campaigning.

    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience

    • 2-7 years of experience in organizing, training, political education, or leadership development, with a strong preference for experience working with youth.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting youth-led campaigns, youth leadership pipelines, or youth organizing programs.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Deep dedication to social justice, youth power, and collective liberation, with a proven ability to support, mentor, and develop youth leaders from diverse backgrounds
    • Excellent curriculum development skills and front of room facilitation skills with youth and adults
    • Track record of successful organizing, coalition coordination and leadership development
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to design and implement winning campaigns
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and maintain partnerships
    • Ability to work collaboratively with fast-moving teams, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
    • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel throughout New York State for trainings, meetings and activities
    • Comfort and competence driving passengers in cars and passenger vans; driver’s license preferred
    • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
    • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred
    • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
