    Description

    Staff Supervision

      • Lead team of 8+ staff
      • Provide consistent and supportive one-on-one supervisor with each staff at least once a month
      • Provide constructive and affirming coaching in the moment to build front-line staff skill sets and improve service delivery
      • Lead Shift Kick-Off Meetings – provide staff with an orientation to the activities of the day, assign stations, lead skill building, and create a space for debriefing incidents
      • Ensure all staff meetings are properly documented in accordance with HR Policies and contractual obligations
      • Attend and actively participate in bi-monthly Shift Supervisor meetings led by the Associate Director of Low Threshold
      • Issue verbal warnings when necessary and document according to HR policy
      • Elevate disciplinary issues that are not solved by verbal warnings to the Associate Director of Low Threshold.

    Time and Attendance

      • Track and document time and attendance on the calendar as per protocol
      • Ensure staff timesheets are filled out correctly and accurately
      • Ensure PTO is entered correctly by staff in ADP
      • Cross-reference timesheets with the calendar system
      • Submit to the Associate Director of Low Threshold

    Programming

      • Oversees functionality and operations of all service stations in the DIC to ensure a high quality of service provision
      • Service stations include:
    • Food, beverage, and Smoothie Bar
    • Syringe Access and Supply Distribution
    • Bathroom monitoring
    • Shower and laundry
      • Ensure participants flow through the space and efficiently
      • Ensures smooth implementation of daily schedule including, groups, events, food, and beverage service, showers, and laundry, opening, closing, shift kick-off, and hand-off meetings

    Documentation of Program Activities and Reporting

      • Ensure DIC Policies and Procedures are followed at all times; update shift staff on changes to policies
      • Work with staff to ensure DIC and SEP data is being accurately and thoroughly documented in the SND app
      • Complete Shift Kick-Off Meeting agendas and sign-ins; complete proper documentation to meet contractual obligations
      • Communicate effectively and with a “solutions-focused” approach with Shift Supervisors at shift change and document program progress in Shift Sign Out Emails
      • Respond to emails thoroughly and promptly
      • Complete monthly and quarterly reports for funders as assigned by the Associate Director of Low Threshold

    Operations and Supplies

      • Maintain stock of program and cleaning supplies at all times
      • Order supplies from the Distribution Manager as needed and according to protocol
      • Work with Associate Director of Low Threshold to ensure supplies are meeting demand
      • Ensure DIC is kept clean and organized
      • Ensure staff are constantly cleaning the DIC and street outside of the DIC; the DIC and street outside should be kept clean and tidy at all times
      • Complete weekly deep clean of the DIC
      • Make sure that all the equipment and utilities in the DIC are correctly functioning at all time
      • Work with the Operations and IT Departments to ensure maintenance and repairs in the DIC are completed promptly
      • Act as an Ambassador to the Program at all times; liaise with community members, NYPD, partners etc. who may drop by the DIC professionally, warmly, and while following protocol

    Security and Safety

      • Ensure safety for participants and staff in the DIC
      • Manage the flow of participants safely and efficiently through the program space and adhere to space capacity limits
      • Assist DIC staff in intervening in overdoses and monitoring participants after an overdose takes place
      • Report critical incidents to Associate Director of Low Threshold
      • De-escalate conflicts, provide opportunities to correct, and ensure 24-hour suspensions are appropriately and consistently utilized
      • Provide coaching to staff in the moment and regularly on de-escalation and opportunities to correct
      • Work with Associate Director of Low Threshold to determine suspensions as appropriate
      • Liaise with EMS, FDNY, and NYPD as necessary and according to protocol
      • Perform other related task and responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications:

      • The SS is someone with an active interest in harm reduction, syringe exchange, and/ or social justice pertaining to individuals who use drugs or engage in sex work.
      • Must be excited about building new programs, systems, policies, and providing capacity building to staff in a rapidly expanding organization.
      • 2+ years of experience supervising staff required.
      • Experience with de-escalation and conflict resolution an asset.
      • Lived experience in the areas of substance use, sex work, HIV and HCV prevention preferred.
      • Extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of safer injection techniques and overdose prevention, HCV prevention and treatment a must. Knowledge of the Washington Heights and East Harlem IDU/ substance use communities preferred.
      • Must be dedicated to advancing an agenda of equal rights and social justice for low-income people who use drugs, especially women of color through activism and political participation.
      • Must be committed to advancing an anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic agenda.
      • Must be an organized, self-motivated team player, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, basic computer skills, and the ability and willingness to be hands-on and solve problems as they arise.
      • Must be committed to Harm Reduction principles and working with low-income people who use drugs and are sex workers.

    Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred
