    Job Description

    Job Summary:

    The Crece Conmigo (Grow with Me) Coordinator manages Crece Conmigo, one of the after school/enrichment programs at La Casa de Amistad designed to service children from Kindergarten to fifth grade. This individual is in charge of managing the daily program routine, closely supervising all children, and volunteers and communicating with parents under its umbrella. The coordinator works in close collaboration with the other youth programs coordinators (Yo Puedo Leer, Florecer, and Adelante) and with the Youth Programs Director to create an innovative, age and culturally appropriate curriculum and other engagement/enrichment activities. The coordinator oversees family related activities and parent/volunteer engagement services.

    Crece Conmigo focuses on academic tutoring, cultural and enrichment activities, summer camps, workshops, etc. Youth programming has been an integral part of La Casa de Amistad since its inception. The Youth Coordinator for Crece Conmigo will play a crucial role in upholding that pillar of our center, as well as strengthening bonds between the center, its staff, students and the families we serve.

    This is an on-site and in-person position.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work under the supervision of Youth Programs Director
    • Collaborate and work directly with Youth Programs Director and other youth programs coordinators to assess, create, implement and support all youth programs’ curriculum during the school year (spring and fall) and during summer camps
    • Create and implement appropriate, age and culturally relevant program curriculum for Crece Conmigo (K-5) using youth programs core values
    • Facilitate literacy programs and art activities for youth and students in conjunction with the Director of Youth Programming
    • Build trust and rapport with each student to address individual academic needs, emotional support, and provide opportunities for success and growth
    • Classroom management and supervision of students using La Casa’s behavioral plan
    • Work directly with Yo Puedo Leer instructor to provide support and coverage when needed, training on Preschool High Scope curriculum will be provided
    • Supervision and management of volunteers assigned to programs
    • Help recruit and maintain sufficient volunteers for tutoring and mentoring for programming
    • Manage and upkeep registration database and information necessary for internal reports and report outcomes for grant purposes
    • Record keeping and reporting of incident reports, program failures, needed improvements and student success stories
    • Communicate directly with families on all matters regarding youth programs and their children
    • Help create, implement, and assess parent engagement opportunities
    • Maintain communication between student’s schools and families to adequately support students
    • Maintain a clean, organized work space, manage classroom supplies and upkeep of classrooms, youth wing and building in good working condition
    • Must be able to assist in driving and supervision on field trips
    • Help manage and maintain snacks for youth programs
    • Position may include additional work hours and other duties as needed not necessarily related to youth programming

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
    • Experience working with K-12 children preferred
    • Competent computer skills including MS office, excel, and working with database systems
    • Verbal, numerical and literacy skills in Spanish and English, preferred
    • Appreciation, understanding and active learning of the Latinx culture and history preferred
    • Organization and planning skills
    • Flexibility, Reliability and Teamwork a must

    Benefits

    • This is a full-time position (36-40 hours per week) and pay range is $16-$18 hourly, based on experience. Spring and Fall hours will normally be from M-Th 9AM-6PM, F 9AM-12PM, with other hours and weekends as needed. Summer schedules will vary depending on planning.
