    Description

    About Bridges to Community

Bridges to Community is a nonprofit organization working alongside rural communities in the Dominican Republic to create lasting improvements in housing, health, education, and economic opportunity. Our volunteer program brings groups from the United States and other countries to work alongside community members on meaningful service projects while learning about Dominican culture, community development, and global citizenship.

    Position Summary

The Volunteer Manager oversees the preparation, coordination, and overall experience of Bridges to Community's volunteer groups before, during, and after their service trips. This includes volunteer communications and applications, trip logistics, accommodations and transportation, project coordination, fundraising support, and volunteer engagement.

The Volunteer Manager also leads and supports Bridges' International Volunteer Coordinators (IVCs), providing training, supervision, coaching, and the systems they need to deliver safe, organized, and meaningful volunteer experiences.

A major focus of the position is developing and strengthening Bridges' service learning program. The Volunteer Manager designs educational content, reflection activities, and experiential learning opportunities that help volunteers better understand community development, Dominican culture, and global citizenship.

The position also includes regular field responsibilities, including visiting project sites, supporting community activities, maintaining welcoming volunteer facilities, and occasionally participating in construction or other service activities alongside volunteer groups.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple groups and projects at once. They should enjoy working directly with people, take initiative, and be committed to creating meaningful experiences for both volunteers and community partners.
