About Seva Foundation:

Seva is a global nonprofit eye care organization that transforms lives by restoring sight and preventing blindness. Since 1978, Seva has provided sight-saving surgeries, eyeglasses, medicine, and other eye care services to more than 70 million people in underserved communities around the world.

Seva has been working in Uganda since 2008.Seva works with 5 locally led organisations and institutions around Uganda whose aim is to expand access to eye health services for the vulnerable population Seva serves as a key stakeholder for the.

Ministry of Health, government-operated eye clinics and health facilities as well as not-for-profit clinics. The districts include Lira ,Kampala ,Tororo ,Mbarara

Position Summary:

We are seeking an engaging Storyteller to captivate audiences.

Reporting to the Program Officer, Africa Region, the Consultant will produce compelling impact stories, case studies, photos, and videos with the support of Seva African region staff. The Consultant will collect content and information from Seva’s work in Uganda across 1 Vision Centre, 1 government eye unit, 1 private hospital and 1 nonprofit. The consultant is expected to produce 3-5 impact stories or case studies by 30 June 2026.

Responsibilities:

Production of Impact Storytelling and Photography:

• Conduct field visits covering each partner across the 4 districts to develop 3-5 stories
• Obtain necessary permissions and consent forms from the patients and the partners to photograph, video, and publicize the stories.
• Write, edit, and produce captivating written impact stories that complement the photography.
• Capture high quality photos and videos
• Edit images and videos utilizing industry-standard software to ensure narrative clarity and visual impact
• Obtain necessary permissions for the individuals
• Ensure final drafts of impact stories,case studies, photographs, videos, and release forms are shared in Seva’s prescribed format with the Program Officer Africa region
• Partner with the Seva Team to brainstorm and incorporate feedback to execute high quality and impact stories.

Qualifications:

• Experience in producing videos, photos, and stories including a portfolio demonstrating a strong eye for composition, lighting, and storytelling
• Graduate in any related field or practical work experience in Communications.
• 2 years of experience in photography, communications, and videography.

Mastery of cameras, lighting and other relevant equipment.Strong written and spoken communication skills in English as required to perform specific job duties and articulate goals and draft compelling stories.
