    Description

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Immigration Organizer recruits and develops immigrant worker leaders, facilitates bilingual rights trainings, and advances strategic campaigns that protect immigrant communities and strengthen worker power. This position reports to the Executive Director.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Recruit, build, and sustain a strong membership base rooted in immigrant justice.
    • Develop and support member leadership through training, political education, and hands-on organizing practice.
    • Work with the Immigration Organizing Team and member-leaders to design and implement strategic campaigns addressing unjust immigration practices and improving workplace standards.
    • Coordinate and facilitate bilingual membership orientations and meetings focused on labor and immigration rights.
    • Collaborate with Labor Organizers and economic justice teams to move strategic worker-rights campaigns forward.
    • Staff community office hours & coordinate follow-up on immigration-related legal clinic cases.
    • Build & maintain strong relationships with allies, community organizations, faith partners, & local leaders.
    • Educate & mobilize members around immigration coalition campaigns and advocacy efforts.
    • Partner with CTU organizers to deepen member engagement & support campaigns as needed.
    • Participate in weekly staff and organizer meetings and other internal planning sessions.
    • Maintain accurate member data, tracking systems, and reporting tools.
    • Support organizational fundraising efforts and complete other duties as assigned.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 1+ year of experience in community organizing, labor organizing, or social justice campaigns, preferably with immigrant or low-wage worker communities.
    • Experience designing and implementing successful grassroots campaigns.
    • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving, project management, and analytical skills.
    • Innovative, creative and strong interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication ability
    • Basic computer skills
    • Bilingual Spanish/English, to include excellent written/verbal communication ability and ability to interpret/translate.
    • Must have drivers license and reliable and consistent access to a vehicle

    Benefits

    Full-time, salaried with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois health insurance; workers' compensation insurance; and generous benefits including paid vacation and paid sick leave. This position has a 3-month probation period.
