About Us

Centro de Trabajadores Unidos—United Workers’ Center (CTU) strives to build power among immigrant workers and advance systemic change to promote social justice and stabilize low-income immigrant communities and communities of color. CTU works at the intersection of immigration and labor rights and employs a grassroots, community organizing model to advance social, economic and racial justice by addressing root causes.

The organization has been in existence for over 10 years. In 2008, after experiencing labor abuses at a local factory and organizing in their defense, a group of immigrant workers were determined to create a stable resource for those like them. That resource would ensure low-wage immigrant workers had the tools, information, and support to understand and defend their rights. The founders' vision was to support a continual stream of workers developing their own leadership potential in order to advocate for themselves and address the injustices they experienced in the workplace.
