    ABOUT CORDOBA HOUSE SUNDAY SCHOOL

    The Cordoba House is a New York based nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to leading, engaging, and promoting a distinctly contemporary, pluralistic and spiritual American Muslim identity. The Cordoba House is actively involved in shaping an American Muslim identity that is based on Spiritual Development, Compassion and pluralsim. Cordoba House seeks to improve understanding and build trust among people of different faiths and culture.

    JOB SUMMARY

    We are seeking qualified, motivated, and engaging teachers who are practicing Muslims and are passionate about working with children and youth. Teachers should have a demonstrated ability to lead groups of children and youth in NYC. Candidates must have a good grounding in Islam. Knowledge of Quranic Arabic is a plus.

    Applicants should have a good understanding of imparting Islamic values in a universal and pluralistic, modern-day American context.

    • Teachers needed currently for the following Age groups 4 -6 years, 7-9 and 10-13 years and 14-18 year old youth
    • Teachers will be required to read and understand the values of the Cordoba House's mission and adapt written curriculum to the classroom setting
    • Devote Time and Research to Prepare lessons plans & Activities
    • One weekly call for lesson prep and follow up with Cordoba Admin
    • Attend teacher training sessions and meetings when required

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidates must be living in the US (preferably near NY, NJ, LI)
    • Minimum Bachelors or Equivalent (current Undergrad students OK)
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with Children and Adults
    • Motivated, engaging, and creative
    • Passionate about teaching children and teens
    • Must be able to read and recite Quran
    • Well versed in Islamic spirituality and Quranic stories and literature
    • Basic knowledge of Arabic vocabulary
    • Ability to adapt, think quick, and respond to student inquiries appropriately
    • Tajweed fluency a plus

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Fluency in English, Experience with children, education and Arabic (ability to read Quran).
