    Programs Team

    BAGLY’s Programs Team includes staff, youth and young adult Peer Leaders and Interns, and volunteers.

    BAGLY’s three core priority areas are:

    1. Community
    2. Health & Wellness
    3. Youth Leadership & Advocacy

    All three program areas are supported by BAGLY’s 10,000-square-foot Downtown Boston Community Center. The Center includes activities, events, peer-led social support meetings, parties, and more, in addition to programming and services related to each core priority area.

    Community Center Program

    BAGLY’s Community Center increases opportunities for community building, connection, and belonging for LBGTQ+ youth ages 25 and under. Programs seek to reduce isolation, provide stabilization and success resources and to feed the spirit of Queer Joy through workshops, activities and events.

    The Community Center program’s core strategies are:

    1. Direct Support (Monetary, Supportive Supplies Closet, BAGLY Boutique, Gender-Affirming Wear Closet)
    2. Work and Life Skills Development
    3. Social Supports & Activities

    Position Overview

    The CC Coordinator (“Coordinator”), reporting to the CC Manager (“Manager”), will be responsible for coordinating programs, activities and services based out of the Community Center (“CC”). The Coordinator will also be responsible for responding to youth needs as they arise in the CC including triaging to internal and external support resources.

    This position will operate on-site at BAGLY’s Downtown Boston Community Center. Regular evenings to cover drop-in hours (with adjusted start times) and occasional weekends are required. This position includes travel inside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and requires a current MA driver’s license.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • In collaboration with the Manager, support the strategic development and growth of the Program, including innovating on and growing existing activities and envisioning, planning, and piloting new activities.
    • With other Program staff, ensure the CC is maintained and utilized properly:
      • Oversee daily upkeep of the CC and its spaces, including the Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera Rooms, therapy rooms, BAGLY Boutique, kitchens, etc.
      • Oversee new client orientation to the space.
      • Ensure community space agreements are being upheld.
    • Ensure proper documentation of participants in all CC programs and activities.
    • Coordinate monthly programming schedule, incorporating programming across all core priority areas.
    • Support marketing and outreach for CC programs.
    • Direct Support:
      • Support the implementation of BAGLY’s direct monetary aid initiative in collaboration with Manager and MSW interns, to conduct client screenings.
      • Coordinate Supportive Supplies Closet access, inventory and data tracking.
      • Coordinate BAGLY Boutique access, inventory and data tracking.
      • Coordinate Gender Affirming Wear access, inventory and data tracking.
      • Support compilation and upkeep of resource/referral network for accuracy and relevance.
    • Social Support Activities
      • With youth peer leaders (interns), youth with lived experience, staff, and community partners, develop and implement social support activities to meet the needs of clients.
      • Ensure a robust CC programming calendar, addressing the varying needs of youth, inclusive of identity meetings and annual social events (i.e. Trans & Nonbinary Meeting, BIPOC Community Nights, Halloween Party, Harvest Dinner, etc.).
      • Support org-wide statewide event planning and implementation (MA Youth Pride, Trans Youth Summit, etc.).
    • Work & Life Skills Development
      • Coordinate programs and activities in partnership with peer leaders (interns) to support the development of independent living and employment skills for LGBTQ+ youth.
      • Collaborate with community partners to deliver effective, relevant and high quality programs, services, resources, and activities supporting the development of independent living and employment skills.
      • Partner with the Manager and Operations team to coordinate and enhance adult advisor and volunteer initiatives that support BAGLY youth in achieving pathways to success (career education, higher education, internship).
    • Supervise Youth Peer Leaders (Interns).
    • Maintain strong communication and collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization.
    • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings, training, and additional meetings, as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Ideal candidates will demonstrate capabilities that meet the basic qualifications. Advanced qualifications are a plus but not required.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Strong understanding of and commitment to BAGLY’s mission and values.
    • Basic understanding of the current and emerging needs of LGBTQ+ youth, including LGBTQ+ youth experiencing housing/food insecurity and/or challenges in securing gainful employment.
    • Experience in coordinating community based social service youth programs.
    • Ability and interest in growing or scaling programs, including launching new activities and services.
    • Experience implementing tenants of Positive Youth Development (PYD).
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple, ongoing projects, programs and activities.
    • Demonstrated success in building community partnerships or referral networks.
    • Demonstrated ability to build supportive relationships with youth and/or young adults, including youth experiencing complex challenges.

    Advanced Qualifications

    • Highly relevant degree such as BSW, BA/BS Psychology, or similar degree.
    • Demonstrated supervisory experience (e.g., full-time staff, part-time staff, interns, volunteers, or youth).
    • Demonstrated success writing an annual work plan.
    • Demonstrated success coordinating and implementing data monitoring and evaluation systems and strategies (e.g., pre/post surveys, client satisfaction surveys) and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
    • Demonstrated success supporting the development of curriculum or workshops.
    • Demonstrated success facilitating effective trainings, workshops, and meetings.
    • Multilingualism.

    Budgeted Starting Salary Range

    $52,500 - $55,000

    The starting salary will be determined based on how many basic and advanced qualifications are demonstrated.
