About This Role

You'll provide Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation across multiple areas of Oregon, filling gaps in regional consultant availability and expanding capacity when additional support is needed. You'll partner with early childhood educators — and, when appropriate, families — to strengthen adults' capacity to support children's healthy social-emotional development. The role also includes piloting telehealth and video-based consultation when in-person services aren't timely or when virtual coaching can expand access.

You'll work as part of the ORIMHA team under the supervision of the Executive Director, with support from the Operations Director. Regular statewide travel is required, with up to approximately 1,000 miles per month anticipated.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide relationship-based, preventive consultation supporting infants' and young children's mental health and social-emotional development
• Partner with early childhood educators to address developmental and relational concerns, and develop practical intervention strategies together
• Help support children who may be at risk of suspension or expulsion from early learning and childcare settings
• Connect educators and families with appropriate regional resources and services
• Provide individual and group training on topics such as social-emotional wellness, early childhood development, trauma-informed care, attachment, and self-care
• Provide consultation via telehealth/video conferencing when appropriate
• Build understanding of the racial, cultural, linguistic, historical, and regional characteristics of the communities served
• Participate in reflective supervision and the reflective process
• Maintain required documentation and meet program/data requirements
• Collaborate with other IECMH Consultants and partner organizations

Required Qualifications

Education

• Master's degree in mental health, early childhood education/development, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, or a related discipline

Credential

• Endorsed as a Family Specialist or Mental Health Specialist (IMH-E® or ECMH-E®), or you meet the criteria for one of these Endorsement categories

Experience

• Minimum two years of experience as an IECMH Consultant in early education settings

Skills

• Humility, empathy, curiosity, and flexibility, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. You're comfortable building professional relationships, engaging families, collaborating across consultants and organizations, working across multiple levels of an early childhood system, using distance technology, traveling throughout Oregon, and engaging thoughtfully in conversations about racism, bias, and equity.

Preferred Qualifications

• If your master's is outside a mental health-related discipline, participation in mental health in-service training is preferred
• Endorsed Reflective Supervisor add-on preferred
• Experience providing IECMH consultation using distance technology preferred
• Applicants based in central Oregon are preferred

Contract Details

• Full-time independent contractor role, ~40 hours/week
• Regular statewide travel required (up to ~1,000 miles/month)
• Anticipated contract term through June 2028

• Final candidates will be required to complete a background check
