The Association of Community Employment Programs (ACE) works with adults who have been impacted by homelessness, addiction, and incarceration - providing job training, work experience and a lifetime support network to help participants secure full-time employment and achieve long-term economic independence.
ACE seeks a full-time Case Manager / Classroom Instructor. The Case Manager / Classroom Instructor will provide case management services, plan lessons and facilitate job-readiness and adult ed classes, conduct program intake interviews, coordinate hard skills training, oversee student testing, periodically assist with community outreach, and will report to the Program Director. The ideal candidate will have experience working with adults with barriers to employment. This is an in-person position based in our offices in Long Island City, Queens – one subway stop outside of Manhattan.
Responsibilities Include:
Case Management
- Manage a case load by assisting participants in reaching prevocational goals, making referrals as needed, communicating with referring case managers, tracking vocational and educational progress, supporting the development of job search and interviewing skills, and providing individual counseling
- Attend bi-weekly case conferences to report on participant progress
Classroom Instruction
- Facilitate classes on job-related topics, including workplace skills, interviewing skills, daily living skills, and other topics as needed
- Facilitate English and math classes for mixed-level learners, focused on daily living tasks and vocational themes, including workplace vocabulary, basic money management, and more
- Provide basic computer instruction in computer lab, provide application support to job seekers
- Administer CASAS standardized assessment to determine initial class placements and gauge student progress
- Develop classroom materials and programming for special events, as needed
Additional Duties
- Coordinate industry-specific certification classes with outside vendors
- Conduct intake interviews, assess eligibility of each candidate in conjunction with intake team
- Assist in conducting presentations about ACE at partner sites, attend off-site recruitment events

- Comfortable planning and facilitating classes; experience working with adult learners
- At least 1 year of experience in social services, education, or a similar environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable working with a diverse population
- Operates comfortably in fast-paced environments, where you often have to pivot quickly between different activities
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Internet research
- A commitment to helping formerly homeless individuals transition to economic independence and pursue their long-term vocational goals
