    Description

    About the Role

Bedford 2030 is a grassroots climate action organization with a mission to address climate

change by empowering communities to take local action for a healthy environment. We are

seeking a Program Manager to help implement, coordinate, and expand programs that make

climate action practical, accessible, and engaging for our community. The Program Manager will

be joining Bedford 2030 at an exciting time of transition and growth.

What that means: you're on the team that turns program ideas into action—from energy

coaching and natural climate solutions to community events and youth climate leadership. You'll

manage the day-to-day details that keep programs moving, communicate with community

members and partners, track program data and deadlines, and make sure things get done.

You'll report to and work closely with the Program Director, collaborating regularly with the

Communications and Development teams. The Program Director sets program strategy and

priorities; the Program Manager is responsible for day-to-day program implementation,

coordination, and follow-through. You'll have opportunities to take ownership of projects, solve

problems, develop systems, and contribute ideas.

This is a hands-on, full-time, flex-schedule role (optional 4-day week) that occasionally requires

evening or weekend work for events and community programs.

This is a great role for an organized, curious, community-minded self-starter who wants to turn

climate solutions into action, enjoys working with people and communities, and takes

satisfaction in making programs and events run well and deliver real impact.

    What You'll Do

    Program Implementation & Coordination

    • Support the Program Director in implementing Bedford 2030 programs
    • Manage the day-to-day coordination of assigned programs, keeping timelines, communications, logistics, and deliverables on track
    • Coordinate workshops, events, meetings, trainings, and other program activities from planning through completion
    • Coordinate with staff, volunteers, contractors, vendors, municipal staff, and community partners to support successful program delivery
    • Maintain consistent follow-through on recurring program activities, deadlines, and next steps

    Community Engagement & Relationships

    • Serve as a friendly, responsive point of contact for program participants and community members
    • Respond promptly and professionally to program inquiries and follow up with participants, partners, and other stakeholders
    • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, schools, municipal partners, and other community stakeholders
    • Represent Bedford 2030 at community events, meetings, tabling opportunities, and other public-facing activities

    Program Outreach & Communications

    • Work with the Program Director and Communications team to promote programs and increase participation
    • Help develop program information, content briefs, and other communications
    • Help translate climate and sustainability topics into clear, practical information for community members
    • Provide timely program information and updates to the Communications team to support effective outreach

    Administration, Data & Project Management

    • Maintain program schedules, contact lists, project files, and other documentation
    • Track program activities, deadlines, participation, and deliverables
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date program data and tracking systems
    • Maintain organized files and information in Google Drive and project management systems
    • Prepare program updates, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials as needed
    • Research & Program Improvement
    • Research climate, sustainability, policy, and community issues relevant to Bedford 2030's programs
    • Monitor program participation and outcomes and help identify opportunities for improvement
    • Use program data and community feedback to help the team understand what is working and where adjustments may be needed
    • Help develop and document processes that strengthen program effectiveness and organizational knowledge
    • Explore and introduce agentic AI tools to assist in the above.

    Who You Are

    • Highly organized and comfortable managing details, deadlines, schedules, and multiple projects at once.
    • A strong follow-through person who can keep track of many moving pieces, remember what needs to happen next, and make sure things actually get done.
    • A self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently while knowing when to ask questions or seek guidance.
    • A strong communicator who can write clearly, listen well, and explain information in a friendly, straightforward way.
    • Warm and personable, with an interest in building relationships with community members, partners, volunteers, and colleagues.
    • A practical problem-solver who stays calm when plans change and enjoys figuring out how to make things work.
    • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the big picture, and someone who takes pride in accurate information and well-organized systems.
    • Analytical thinker who can track, report, and draw actionable conclusions from data
    • Genuinely curious about climate action and eager to learn about the issues and solutions relevant to our community.
    • A team player who enjoys collaborating across programs, communications, and development.
    • Positive, proactive, and enthusiastic, with a sense of humor and an optimistic attitude toward the work.
    • Interested in community engagement and comfortable representing Bedford 2030 in public settings.

    Tools You'll Use Regularly

Google Workspace, Excel, Asana, Canva, WordPress, Calendly, Zoom, and other project management, communications, and data-management tools.

You don't need to be an expert in all of these—we're looking for someone who is comfortable

with technology, learns quickly, and enjoys figuring out new tools.

Also required: valid driver's license, reliable car, and a strong interest in and commitment to

    climate action.

Location: Bedford 2030's office is at St. Luke's Parish House in Katonah, NY. The team works a

hybrid mix of in-office and remote, with in-person time expected, including occasional evenings

and weekends, for events and key meetings.

    Benefits

Health benefits, generous holidays, personal days, and an optional 4-day flex week.

    Level of Language Proficiency

Fluency in English is required. Spanish is a plus.
