    Description

    The Smart from the Start Program Coordinator position is a multifaceted role requiring a blend of skills typical of an early childhood specialist, a family support specialist, and a family advocate and case manager, with experience building relationships within diverse communities. This individual will work in collaboration with the Smart Team on the following responsibilities:

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    Case Management & Family Advocacy

    • Family Support & Advocacy: Conduct intake assessments, create goal plans, and assist families in navigating housing, healthcare, legal, public benefit, and school systems.
    • Developmental Screenings: Administer and track the ASQ-3 and ASQ: SE screenings to monitor child development and address potential delays.
    • Crisis Response & Resources: Provide rapid crisis intervention, safety planning, and warm referrals to local community resources.

    Programming, Outreach, & Operations

    • Program Facilitation: Partner with the Program Facilitator to co-manage, schedule, and lead site-based educational workshops and child development activities.
    • Community Outreach: Implement outreach strategies to recruit, retain, and engage local families.
    • Events & Partnerships: Build relationships with local service providers and represent the organization at Ward 8 community meetings and events.
    1. Data & Administration
    • Data Management: Input and maintain weekly attendance, service hours, and evaluation records to support program impact tracking.
    • Site Infrastructure: Manage site supplies, equipment, and inventory; participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
    • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in case management, family advocacy, and serving culturally diverse, economically disadvantaged communities.
    • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience administering ASQ-3 / ASQ: SE screenings and maintaining regular data entry.
    • Local Expertise: Strong knowledge of Washington, DC (specifically Ward 8) neighborhoods, schools, and social service networks.
    • Core Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities; able to balance independent leadership with team collaboration.

    POSITION DETAILS

    • Type & Location: Full-time, 100% on-site in Ward 8 (Washington, DC).
    • Schedule: Requires flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings and weekends for events.
    • Reporting: Reports directly to the Program Director.
    • Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
