    Agassiz Village is a nonprofit youth development organization dedicated to providing life-changing summer experiences for children from marginalized communities. Located on a 330-acre camp on Thompson Lake in Poland, Maine, the organization has been making a positive impact since 1935. Agassiz Village offers six weeks of overnight camp programs for children ages 8-17, as well as leadership training and internship opportunities for teens aged 14 and older. With its main office in Framingham, Massachusetts, the organization is committed to nurturing growth, confidence, and community in young people.

    Role Description

    Agassiz Village is hiring for muliple summer roles (late June to mid-August) including Camp Counselors, Lifegaurds, and Leadership Team members, based in Poland, Maine. Responsibilities include supervising and engaging with campers, facilitating recreational and educational activities, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Team members will be mentors and role models, helping campers develop leadership skills and enhance their social and emotional growth. Depending on the specific role, duties may include planning and leading activities, overseeing camp logistics, or providing swim and outdoor safety supervision.

    Qualifications

    • Passion for working with youth
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster an inclusive, positive environment
    • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and engage with campers
    • Certification or experience in lifeguarding or outdoor safety is a plus
    • Background in education, youth development, or related fields is highly desirable
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

    Roles vary and are from June 15/21 to August 7, 2026 with weekly salaries from $400 to $650 depending on the position. All meals and lodging are provided.
