Title: Part-time Workforce Cafe Coordinator, Workforce Development Program (6-month PT - Seasonal Employee)
Department: Social Services (primarily SE Center)

Job description: Sept 2026 – March 2027
Banded Salary Range: Level II $25.04 - 26.44/hr ($50,000 - $55,000)
The Workforce Cafe Coordinator is a 20-hour-per-week, seasonal employee, responsible for building relationships with participants and providing accessible, hands-on employment support through Bread for the City’s Workforce Development Program. The Coordinator supports workforce development by helping participants identify employment goals, navigate job-search resources, complete applications, develop resumes, access training opportunities, and take concrete steps toward employment.
The Coordinator serves as a consistent presence in the Workforce Cafe, creating a welcoming, low-barrier environment where participants can receive practical assistance with employment-related needs. The position also helps maintain and organize workforce resources, connects participants with other Workforce Development services when additional support is needed, and works closely with program staff to support participants’ progress toward employment and increased economic stability.
The Workforce Development Manager provides guidance and direction to the Job Developer, Workforce Development Program and is responsible for providing regular supervision and completing an annual performance review.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain a welcoming, supportive, and participant-centered presence in the Workforce Café during designated walk-in hours;
- Provide one-on-one assistance with job searches, online job applications, resumes, cover letters, email accounts, online employment platforms, and other practical employment needs;
- Help participants identify employment goals, strengths, interests, barriers, and immediate next steps through basic employment assessments;
- Connect participants with relevant job openings, training programs, certifications, educational opportunities, and other workforce resources;
- Manage and regularly update the Workforce Cafe Job Board with current employment and training opportunities;
- Organize and maintain employment resources, handouts, computers, online tools, and other materials available through the Workforce Cafe;
- Help participants access and navigate online trainings and employment-related technology;
- Support the planning and implementation of professional development workshops, hiring events, orientations, and other Workforce Development activities;
- Conduct follow-up with participants, as appropriate, to support progress on identified employment goals and next steps;
- Identify participants who may benefit from more intensive Workforce Development services and facilitate warm handoffs to the Workforce Development Manager, Job Developer, or other program staff;
- Collaborate with Workforce Development staff and other Bread for the City programs to connect participants with services that may support employment and economic stability;
- Maintain appropriate participant records and document services, referrals, and employment-related outcomes in accordance with program procedures;
- Gather and organize information about community employment resources, hiring events, training opportunities, and employer needs;
- Perform other related duties that support the goals of the Workforce Development Program.
Qualifications and Required Skill Sets:
- High school diploma or GED;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, data entry);
- Ability to build relationships and network effectively;
- Organizational and time management skills;
- Skilled in relationship building;
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal communications skills;
- Experience problem solver;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Ability to motivate and support job seekers;
- Timely and accurate documentation;
- Experienced with/or be committed to learning the model of trauma informed care;
- Experience working in multicultural settings with a commitment to racial equity, awareness of implicit bias, and commitment to the work of undoing racism;
- Comfort with use of laptop while working and flexible to deal with noise, frequent interruptions, and constant changes in scheduling.
