Position Overview
The deputy director is a senior organizational leader who works cross-functionally to provide strategic partnership and support to the executive director, advance development and fundraising efforts in support of a $1.37M and growing budget, ensure smooth operations, and position the organization for sustainable growth.
The deputy director serves as primary liaison with outsourced accounting, administrative, and operations providers; supervises the communications manager; and will work closely with development consultants including a contracted grant writer. Over time, this position will develop and hire development, operations, and administrative staff positions in alignment with continued organizational growth.
Core Responsibilities
Development 50%
Build and manage day-to-day development functions and work with the executive director and contracted services to increase and diversify organizational revenue:
Leadership and Strategy, 20%
Act as a thought partner and support to the executive director in leading the organization through a period of strategic growth:
Operations, 30%
Provide leadership and oversight to operations, ensuring effective organizational functioning and systems:

This is a full-time, exempt position at $100K per year.
Working Environment
This is a hybrid position with in-person attendance at our Brooklyn Creative Sound Lab anticipated at least once per week on average.

Willie Mae Rock Camp integrates music, technology, and STEM to empower girls and gender-expansive youth ages 10-17 across NYC with the skills and confidence to thrive as creative leaders in a tech-driven future.
Founded in 2004, Willie Mae Rock Camp was among the first rock camps for girls in the U.S. Over time, we have grown beyond rock-based instruction to year-round programs integrating music instruction and creative expression with digital and analog technologies. We now reach hundreds of girls and gender-expansive youth annually through tuition-free programming in schools, community sites, and our Brooklyn Sound Lab.
