    POSITION SUMMARY (Short summary of the essential purpose of the job)

    The Community Care Associate – Full-Time supports Loudoun Hunger Relief by serving program recipients directly, individually and as a group. This position is part of the team responsible for day-to-day operations of LHR’s community care programs and is often the first point of contact for neighbors during our food distribution services. This position will be the shift lead for the off-site, mobile food distributions as well as on-site services.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties that occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job)

    • Interfaces with program recipients and volunteers during assigned distributions/programs (including pantry services, mobile markets, education and outreach events) – service role may vary based on type of service scheduled
    • Implements intake for new families and provides orientation information to them
    • Makes appropriate referrals to other agencies, programs and organizations as needed
    • Acts as shift lead, when assigned, with a focus on providing a positive environment where all may feel appreciated and valued, and with emphasis on efficient, safe and orderly operations
    • Responsible for data entry when assigned
    • Prepares for food distributions by making sure the necessary supplies and forms are provided; set-up is completed; and that the program database is working properly.
    • Helps to close out after each food distribution, resetting program spaces, supplies/equipment, as needed.
    • Promotes various education classes and programs for neighbors and registers them for in-house programs
    • May teach off-site nutrition or cooking classes with the LHR-developed curriculum
    • May represent LHR in certain outreach and education events
    • General administrative duties, such as phone support, processing appointments, email and calendar maintenance, etc.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately)

    • High School diploma required. Associate's degree preferred.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
    • Must be able to commute to Leesburg AND Sterling locations when needed.
    • Evening and weekend hours will be required on a pre-scheduled weekly basis.
    • Must be responsible, dependable, and display the highest level of integrity.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
    • Understanding of general database entry required, Link2Feed preferred.
    • Exceptional organizational skills; detail-oriented and has the ability to interpret/troubleshoot variances in data.
    • Good communication skills and a self-starter.
    • Ability to maintain confidentially of program recipients and donors.
    • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds.
    • Background checks may be required.

    ADA SPECIFICATIONS (Physical demands that must be met to successfully complete the essential functions of the job)

    The person in this position must be flexible and able to work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment. The position will require some bending and lifting. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
