    About the role:

    The Sr. Manager of Finance & Compliance is a critical leadership position accountable for overseeing the organizations entire financial ecosystem. This individual will ensure the integrity of financial operations, guarantee absolute statutory compliance, lead strategic financial reporting, and serve as the primary liaison between internal leadership and external stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Financial Operations & Strategic Accounting (25%)
    • Team Oversight: Lead the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity.
    • Process Leadership: Ensure accurate processing of payroll, vendor payments, and statutory deductions (TDS, PF, ESI).
    • Financial Closures: Supervise month-end and year-end closures, ensuring high-quality preparation of financial statements.
    • Budgeting & Grants: Set processes for budget projections, fund utilization tracking, and complex grant-related accounting for donor requirements.
    • Banking: Maintain governance over bank accounts, manage payment controls, and lead banking partner relationships.
    1. Compliance, Governance & Audit Management (25%)
    • Statutory Excellence: Ensure full compliance with Income Tax, GST, TDS, PF, and other applicable laws.
    • Reporting: Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all routine statutory returns.
    • Audit Leadership: Manage relationships with statutory, donor, and internal auditors; ensure smooth and timely audit closures.
    • Donor Compliance: Oversee the end-to-end donor lifecycle, including grant onboarding, utilization certificates (UCs), and specialized reporting.
    1. Financial Analysis & Stakeholder Management (30%)
    • Systems Design: Implement comprehensive tracking systems for donor and project-specific finances to ensure transparency for all stakeholders.
    • Strategic Insights: Develop monthly MIS reports, financial dashboards, and cash-flow forecasts to support Board-level decision-making.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Vertical Heads to manage financial projections and optimize risk management across the organization.
    • External Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for banks, auditors, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
    • Board Engagement: Prepare quarterly reports and provide strategic recommendations to the Finance Subcommittee and the Board.
    1. Team Leadership & Process Innovation (20%)
    • Mentorship: Recruit, manage, and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous capacity building.
    • Control Strengthening: Continuously improve internal controls and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce operational risks.
    • Documentation Standards: Drive high standards for record-keeping and organizational transparency.

    Requirements

    Education & Experience

    • Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA in Finance with a proven leadership track record.
    • Professional Background: 8–10 years of experience, with significant expertise in managing financial operations for mid-sized organizations.
    • Sector Knowledge: Strong preference for candidates with experience in Non-Profits and FCRA compliance.
    • Communication: Demonstrated ability to present complex financial data to Board members and senior stakeholders.
    • Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling (creating dashboards and scenario planning tools).
    • Communication: Exceptional written and oral English; functional knowledge of the regional language is preferred.
