    Position Overview

    Zone 126 is seeking to hire an After School Academic Program Manager who will oversee all after school tutoring activities at Long Island City High School (LICHS). This role is responsible for designing Zone 126’s academic after school programming which will assist students in achieving high school graduation, as well as college and career readiness standards. This role is responsible for collaborating with the school’s academic teams to create hands-on learning experiences that complement the day school academic programs.

    The After School Academic Program Manager will work closely and collaboratively with the Zone 126 Community School staff and the high school leadership team to improve academic outcomes of its most vulnerable students. The long-term outcome will be that students are excelling in core academic subjects such as English, Science, Math Social Studies and Foreign Language.

    This role reports directly to the After School Program Director at Long Island City High and will collaborate with Zone 126 Group Leaders to work directly with groups of students.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with school administration, teachers, counselors, and day school Zone 126 staff to identify the academic needs of the most vulnerable students.
    • Build relationships with students and develop a meaningful rapport with the school community.
    • Recruit and retain students and parents through various engagement and communication touchpoints.
    • Design activities that are developmentally appropriate and adapt curricula to meet individual needs.
    • Work directly with the After School Director and Zone 126 Group Leaders to create a positive experience and an environment where students feel safe, supported, and seen.
    • Support the After School Program Director in providing holistic support to families, such as facilitating Parent & Students Workshops that support increasing study habits and academic progress.
    • Assist the Zone 126 leadership team in utilizing best practices in data collection that will enhance telling the story of impact from the after school program.
    • Work closely with the Data & Evaluation Manager to collect and utilize attendance and available academic performance results to measure outcomes and impact.
    • Prepare progress reports that are grounded in both quantitative and qualitative data to support continuous improvement of programs and the program model.
    • Solicit and provide feedback from the school and Zone 126 leadership teams.
    • Ensure a smooth transition from day to after school.
    • Assist in planning and execution of all special events.
    • Other duties as deemed necessary.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
    • At least 2 years of experience working in a day or after school setting required. High School experience a plus.
    • Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning preferred, not required.
    • Bilingual preferred, not required; Languages may include Spanish, Bengali, Urdu, Arabic, Cantonese.
    • The ideal candidate is highly organized, has strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and has demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    • Punctuality, attendance, and reliability is a must.
    • DOE Fingerprinting Clearance required for all school-based staff. Fingerprinting costs are reimbursable after 90 days of successful employment.

    Work Location and Schedule

    • Full-Time Position at 35 Hours per week
    • School-based in-person position located Long Island City High School
      • (14-30 Broadway, Long Island City, NY 11106)
    • Candidates must be available Monday through Friday, from 9am- 5pm.
      • Special event support on weekends may be needed and will be planned in advance.

    Salary and Benefits

    • Annual Salary: $60,000
