    Description

    Crayon Collection is seeking an experienced outreach coordinator, ideally with K-12 educator experience, to oversee coordinate our foundational crayon recycling program and our art education / color kindness program. This involves creating and managing a network of participating restaurants who collect and donate crayons to local vulnerable schools. Crayon Collection is the facilitator and ensures that the local schools receive the crayons and other art educational materials, along with the donated crayons.

    Tasks include direct outreach to restaurants, educators, and administrators, high-level coordination and task management, and measuring program impact. This role will also require teacher training and some classroom time conducting art education lessons with K-12 students, so teaching or training experience is preferredrequired.

    The position is ideal for someone with strong outreach and program coordination experience and who is outgoing, confident, detail-oriented, organized and passionate about art education. Preference will be given to applicants with classroom experience, or those who understands the needs of K-12 teachers., Applicants with art education experience are highly encouraged to apply.

    • *Note that this position requires residence in the LA area, as weekly outreach will require travel to schools, restaurants, and events. Applicants must reside in LA County and be willing to travel throughout Los Angeles during working hours, as needed.

    Key Responsibilities

    Restaurant Outreach - 30%

    • Conduct outreach and recruit restaurants/restaurant chains
    • Build and maintain partnerships with local restaurants
    • Visit restaurants and provide materials such as branded Crayon Collection boxes and support staff with training on crayon collection protocols
    • Pick up and deliver donated crayons, as needed

    Teacher & School Outreach/Education - 45%

    • Find and build relationships with local schools in LA area
    • Conduct outreach to Title 1 Schools, Head Start centers, and other educators who would benefit from crayon donations
    • Train program administrators on the crayon collection process
    • Conduct teacher trainings to ensure teachers can offer art education lessons
    • Provide art education lessons in classrooms, when needed
    • Deliver crayons to schools and programs, as needed
    • Recruit more professional artists to provide new crayon based art projects

    Program Coordination - 15%

    • Maintain a comprehensive list of participating restaurants, schools, and educational programs
    • Track number of donations received/delivered
    • Assist with volunteer crayon-packing events, as needed
    • Administer surveys and other impact reporting to determine program impact

    Community Representation - 10%

    • Attend events and represent Crayon Collection (e.g. tabling at school events, art fairs, other events)

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Program coordination experience
    • Excellent organization and communication skills
    • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of work experience (minimum)
    • Passion for art, education, sustainability, and community work

    Preferred

    • Art education experience
    • Classroom teaching experience (K-12)
    • Creative programming, non-profit, and/or community work experience
    • Confident self-starter who can work independently
    • Excellent networking skills: warm, energetic, approachable
