Cascade Bicycle Club is seeking welcoming and knowledgeable bike maintenance and bike riding instructors to serve as Bike Education Leads (BEL). The Bike Education Leads will serve this dynamic, well-established, and respected organization by demonstrating a passion for and knowledge about safe bike riding and competent bike maintenance.

BELs have the option to lead a variety of classes such as:

    • Bike maintenance classes (Fix-A-Flat, Maintenance for Every Rider, Chains & Derailleurs, Brake System Maintenance, Roadside Repair) with a focus on:
      • Women & Non-Binary classes
      • Open to everybody classes
      • E-bikes and traditional bikes
    • Adult Learn to Ride (riders with little to no experience, or learning after a long break)
    • Group riding classes teaching varied commuting skills
      • (Basic Cycling Techniques, Urban Cycling Techniques)

Typical hours for this position range from 8-20 hours per month, depending on availability. This position is highly flexible and BELs can set their own hours.

BELs create a safe and empowering environment for our members and class participants, fostering the skills and confidence needed to ride and maintain their bikes safely and competently. This is the perfect role for you if you have prior experience repairing and teaching bicycle classes, are an avid bike rider, and love to coach and bolster adult learners from varying backgrounds and skill levels. We especially encourage applicants who come with a deep understanding of the barriers to participation and experiences of historically marginalized riders (for example: women and non-binary, people of color, varying socioeconomic status, etc).
