Life Science Cares is launching a national Food is Health initiative focused on addressing food insecurity that integrates into the work being done in the five affiliates.
This role is an opportunity to help build and operationalize a growing movement at the intersection of food, health, and equity. The position will support execution, partnership development, grantmaking, convenings, volunteer engagement, communications, and cross-sector collaboration as Life Science Cares expands its work in this space.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, entrepreneurial, relationship-oriented, and excited by the opportunity to help shape a new initiative from the ground up. They should be equally comfortable managing complex projects, convening diverse stakeholders, and contributing to big-picture strategic thinking.
This is a collaborative role for someone who works well in a fast-moving environment and is passionate about building practical, community-centered solutions to address a growing problem including food access and health equity.
This is a part-time exempt position requiring approximately 20-25 hours per week. The salary range is $40,000-50,000 based on the part time hours. This position is eligible for holiday pay, paid time off, and 401k.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Initiative Management
Core responsibilities:
- Build and maintain integrated project plans, timelines, and accountability structures.
- Translate broad goals into operational next steps.
- Coordinate across national staff, affiliates, external partners, consultants, and sponsors.
- Track progress, identify opportunities and challenges, and help pivot when necessary.
- Prepare briefing materials, dashboards, board updates, and leadership recommendations.
- Help build systems and infrastructure that support long-term growth, collaboration, learning, and impact.
- External Partnerships & Thought Leadership Support
Core responsibilities:
- Help position LSC as a credible convener and grantmaker in hunger, food insecurity and food access.
- Coordinate outreach to community and issue area leaders, healthcare systems, academics, funders and other aligned stakeholders.
- Help synthesize themes and insights from landscape conversations.
- Manage logistics and follow-up for convenings and stakeholder meetings.
- Support development of a white paper and other thought leadership materials.
- Support relationship management for the Advisory Board.
- Pilot Grant Program Design & Management
Core responsibilities:
- Help identify potential scalable models and opportunities for innovation and impact in the food is health space.
- Help design a new national grant process, including applicant outreach and support, proposal review workflows and evaluation processes.
- Support due diligence and recommendation development.
- Build systems for tracking outcomes and learning.
- Coordinate storytelling and impact reporting from demonstration projects.
- Convenings & Campaign Activation
Core responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Ending Hunger Together Summit (Fall 2026) and related convenings, volunteer activation and community engagement opportunities.
- Work with national development team to support sponsor engagement and volunteer activations and events.
- Work with local affiliate teams to organize network-wide volunteer activations.
- Support event planning, stakeholder coordination, and participant experience.
- Communications, Narrative & Fundraising Support
Core responsibilities:
- Help develop messaging and campaign materials, presentations, and other program assets.
- Coordinate communications calendars and storytelling opportunities.
- Gather impact data, quotes, and partner stories.
- Support sponsor decks, donor briefings, and funder updates.
- Ensure alignment between initiative activities, other LSC initiatives and external positioning.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience in nonprofit management, program operations, philanthropy, grantmaking or similar efforts
- Excellent project & process management skill
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort engaging with data and using it to inform decisions
- Tech-savvy and proficient with Google Suite, Excel; experience with Canva a plus

- Can listen for patterns and strategic opportunity areas
- Able to assess both innovation potential and operational feasibility
- Strong event and stakeholder management skills
