    About Mothers Against Media Addiction

MAMA’s mission is to end childhood screen addiction, support families in raising healthy kids, and prevent runaway tech. We do this by educating parents, getting smartphones out of schools, and ensuring technology products have basic safeguards like other consumer products.

Our goal is to live in a world where real-life experiences and interactions remain at the heart of a healthy childhood.

In a short period of time, MAMA has built something rare: a wide-funnel home for parents and caregivers who are looking for meaningful ways to engage. As public concern about social media, artificial intelligence (or AI), and tech harms has surged, MAMA has become a trusted national voice and a front-page presence in conversations about accountability and reform.

We have built a strong and growing network of chapter leaders across the country and have proven that there is deep demand for this work. Now, we are entering the next phase of our growth.

    This is a scale moment.

MAMA is investing in leadership to turn momentum into durable grassroots power — building the systems, infrastructure, and strategy necessary to grow aggressively and responsibly, deepen impact in priority states, and institutionalize our organizing model for long-term success.

    Position Overview

MAMA is hiring its first Organizing Director.

This role marks an important milestone in the organization’s evolution and reflects our commitment to scaling grassroots and membership power with precision and discipline.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the National Organizing Director will own and lead MAMA’s national grassroots and membership strategy.

    This leader will:

    • Define and drive the organizing trajectory of the organization
    • Strengthen and scale our chapter network
    • Build national membership growth pathways
    • Partner closely with the Digital Director to integrate digital and in-person organizing
    • Implement the systems and accountability structures needed for durable scale

This is a builder role. The National Organizing Director will lead the next phase of MAMA’s growth — transforming strong early momentum into sustained grassroots power and measurable impact.

What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)

    • Drive measurable national membership growth, with concentrated gains in priority states
    • Define and operationalize clear membership pathways from digital engagement to in-person activation and leadership
    • Establish recurring, high-impact anchor actions in priority states that build leadership depth and policy leverage
    • Lead implementation and adoption of Mobilize and EveryAction as organizing backbones across staff and interested Chapter Leaders (these systems are newly being rolled out across the organization)
    • Build and institutionalize a bi-weekly internal reporting cadence tied to strategy, growth, and measurable impact
    • Strengthen chapter health through clearer standards, leadership development structures, and accountability systems

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Grassroots & Membership Strategy
      • Lead MAMA’s national organizing and membership growth strategy
      • Identify and prioritize focus states using a disciplined approach that considers chapter strength, policy opportunity, and growth potential
      • Design and scale membership growth pathways that convert national digital attention into sustained grassroots engagement
      • Establish the framework for recurring anchor actions
      • Support organic national growth while concentrating investment and depth in priority states
    2. Chapter & Volunteer Leadership Development
      • Strengthen and expand MAMA’s Chapter Leader network
      • Develop clear expectations, standards, and support structures for Chapter Leaders
      • Build a leadership development ladder and training infrastructure
      • Foster a strong in-person organizing culture grounded in community, activation, and shared purpose
      • Build and maintain partnerships that provide community connection, opportunities for unplugging, getting balanced or otherwise fighting media addiction/promoting real-world engagement
      • Ensure chapters are equipped with the tools and structure necessary to execute high-impact actions
    3. Digital & Organizing Integration
      • Partner closely with the Digital Director to align digital growth with in-person organizing strategy
      • Design and refine digital-to-chapter conversion pathways
      • Align campaign priorities, messaging, and activation calendars
      • Establish shared metrics and accountability across digital and organizing functions
      • Ensure digital amplification strengthens grassroots depth rather than replacing it
    4. Systems, Infrastructure & Accountability
      • Lead the implementation and integration of Mobilize and EveryAction as core organizing systems
      • Drive adoption of new tools and reporting structures across staff and chapter leaders
      • Build a culture of measurable goals and data-informed decision-making
      • Establish and manage a bi-weekly internal reporting rhythm tied to strategy and growth
      • Institutionalize infrastructure that allows MAMA to scale responsibly and sustainably
    5. Team Leadership & Organizational Growth
      • Manage and develop 1–2 Community Managers (with the opportunity to help design and scale the organizing team over the next 12–24 months)
      • Operate as a senior leader within the organization, contributing to cross-functional strategy
      • Partner with the Development team to translate organizing impact into compelling metrics and stories for funders
      • Support organizational planning and growth as MAMA continues to scale

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 8–10+ years of experience in grassroots organizing, membership growth, or distributed organizing leadership
    • Demonstrated experience scaling chapter-based or distributed volunteer models
    • Experience implementing and operationalizing organizing systems (CRM platforms, reporting structures, data-driven accountability)
    • Proven track record of growing membership or supporter bases in issue-driven campaigns
    • Experience managing remote teams and building strong culture in distributed environments
    • Strong strategic thinking skills and comfort making prioritization decisions
    • Data-oriented mindset with experience using metrics to inform strategy
    • Passion for protecting kids and families and interest in learning and engaging deeply in MAMA’s issue space (prior policy expertise not required)

    Preferred

    • Experience building infrastructure in early-to-scale or high-growth organizations
    • Experience integrating digital and field organizing strategies
    • Experience operating in high-visibility issue environments
    • Experience managing within fully remote organizations

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • Annual Salary: $130,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience
    • Benefits include generous and flexible paid time off; health, dental, vision
