    The Carver’s mission is to equip all learners for global competitiveness by fostering strategic partnerships with schools and communities. We operate 60+ before-school, after-school, and summer programs in K-12 public schools across Norwalk, Side by Side Charter School, the Classical Studies Magnet Academy in Bridgeport, and the Carver Community Center.

    Position Overview

    The Carver is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Manager to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a mission-driven professional who is passionate about financial management and efficiency. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, streamlining workflows, and supporting a dynamic team.

    Key Responsibilities

      • Oversee Accounts Payable, including processing vendor invoices and preparing checks.
      • Handle day to day banking & cash management.
      • Manage credit card journal entries and reconciliations.
      • Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable and accruals.
      • Maintain general ledger, including subsidiary schedules preparation with proper supporting documentation, and preparation of monthly and year-end journal entries
      • Complete accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and budget to actual reports
      • Review bi-weekly payroll processing with a focus on ensuring personnel expenses are being allocated to the proper programs per the annual budget and government contracts
      • Collaborate with the development team to align financial reporting with grant and contract requirements.
      • Coordinate and support annual audit and IRS Filings.
      • Develop, maintain and enforce accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to support compliance and best practices.

    Qualifications:

      • Experience with Blackbaud NXT or similar accounting software.
      • Non-profit accounting experience
      • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
      • Minimum 3-5 years GAAP accounting experience
      • Advanced Excel skills
      • Strong math and research skills.
