Description
Program Coordinator
The Discovery Center at Temple Israel of the City of New York
The Discovery Center at Temple Israel is a new destination for young children and their families, offering enrichment classes, family programming, camps, special events, and community experiences. We're looking for a Program Coordinator to help bring this exciting new initiative to life.
This is not a traditional coordinator role. We're looking for someone who is energized by building something new and excited by the opportunity to help shape a program from the ground up. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll play a key role in launching new classes and events, creating exceptional experiences for families, developing systems that support growth, and helping turn a bold vision into reality.
The ideal candidate is organized, resourceful, creative, and eager to take ownership. If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, managing multiple projects, and making things happen, this is an opportunity to have a real impact while growing your own career.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Discovery Center.
- Manage program registrations, scheduling, and logistics.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for participating families, providing exceptional customer service from inquiry through enrollment.
- Coordinate communications with instructors, vendors, and community partners.
- Support the planning and execution of enrichment classes, workshops, camps, family programs, and special events.
- Assist with marketing initiatives, including email communications, social media, website updates, and promotional materials.
- Develop systems and processes that support a growing program.
- Manage multiple projects and timelines while ensuring that details are handled thoughtfully and efficiently.
- Contribute creative ideas for new programs, partnerships, and family experiences.
- Provide administrative support for the Discovery Center and other Learning & Engagement initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and enjoys making things happen. You are equally comfortable working independently and collaborating as part of a team, and you thrive in an environment where no two days are exactly the same.
Candidates should have:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Two to five years of experience in program coordination, project management, operations, events, nonprofit administration, education, hospitality, marketing, or a related field.
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong customer service orientation and the ability to build positive relationships with families, colleagues, and community partners.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- A willingness to take initiative, solve problems, and follow projects through from concept to completion.
Experience with marketing and communications, social media, event planning, registration platforms, or working with young children and families is a plus, but not required.
Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some evenings and weekends are required for programs and special events, with flexibility built into the schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range of $60,000-$68,000, commensurate with experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package.
- Paid time off and holidays.
- Professional development opportunities.
- Significant opportunity for growth, increased responsibility, and expanded leadership as the Discovery Center continues to grow.
