    Description

I Want To Mow Your Lawn, Inc. is a Wayne-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing free lawn care and exterior home maintenance to seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities — 1,939 volunteers across all 50 states, 526+ households served. We just received a 2026 AARP Community Challenge grant to make 30 older neighbors' homes in Wayne safer before winter: clearing walkways, reducing trip hazards, and adding path lighting. We're hiring one Field Coordinator for a focused one-month engagement to get it organized before fall semester starts.

What you'll do (hybrid — half phone/home, half around town):

    • Work from homeowner leads we provide, calling residents to confirm needs and participation
    • Visit Wayne properties to photograph front walkways (exteriors only) and take simple hazard notes
    • Collect signed consent forms
    • Help draft each home's ~$300 materials plan
    • Help schedule volunteer improvement days
    • Support light outreach — local Facebook/Nextdoor posts and neighborhood flyer distribution — to complete the participant list

    Details:

    • $500 flat stipend, paid as an independent contractor under a simple written agreement
    • Approximately 7–8 flexible hours per week, late July through late August
    • Wraps before fall semester; reference letter provided on successful completion

    Requirements:

    • Own reliable car, valid driver's license, and insurance for local travel within Wayne
    • Smartphone with a decent camera
    • Genuine patience and warmth speaking with older adults — by phone and at the front door
    • Dependable and self-directed: seniors will be expecting you when a visit is scheduled
    • Wayne-based or able to be in Wayne regularly during the engagement

Real, resume-ready nonprofit program experience with visible results in one town — you'll be the person who makes sure 30 seniors and veterans actually get helped.

This project was made possible by a grant from AARP.
