    Location: Nairobi, Kenya; Pretoria, South Africa; or Remote Home Office (Africa)

    Role Summary:

    The Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, reporting to the Senior Director of Monitoring & Evaluation, will be a key member of The Max Foundation’s growing M&E function, supporting impact measurement, evidence generation, and technical project management across Max’s global health programs. This role will provide strong technical project management across Max’s M&E and evidence-generation portfolio, ensuring that complex projects are well organized, timely, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities.

    The Monitoring & Evaluation Manger will also help develop and manage project plans, budgets, timelines, deliverables, submissions, consultants, vendors, and cross-functional workstreams and will also include technical contributions to project design, data analysis and visualization, technical writing, proposal development, and synthesis of findings for diverse audiences.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide project management support for M&E and evidence-generation projects, including workplans, timelines, deliverables, meetings, decision tracking, and follow-up
    • Contribute to technical concept notes, proposals, and budget development, including scopes of work, resource needs, consultant/vendor costs, project expenses, and invoice tracking
    • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, external consultants, vendors, and technical experts to advance M&E and evidence generation priorities
    • Support management of consultants and vendors, including scopes of work, timelines, deliverables, invoices, and communications
    • Coordinate abstract, conference, publication, regulatory, ethics, and institutional submissions, including tracking requirements, documentation, approvals, and deadlines
    • Maintain organized project records, submission files, reporting trackers, datasets, budgets, and other M&E documentation
    • Support the development and refinement of M&E frameworks, indicators, tools, and reporting processes in alignment with organizational strategy and impact measurement priorities
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of evaluation and evidence-generation activities, including assessments, surveys, methodologies, tools, and data collection instruments
    • Manage data collection, extraction, and analysis across programs to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities related to program reach, patient outcomes, and health system impact
    • Contribute to M&E reports, grant proposals, partner reports, abstracts, manuscripts, presentations, and other evidence-based materials
    • Develop data visualizations, dashboards, charts, infographics, and summaries that make findings clear, compelling, and accessible to diverse audiences
    • Support the development of plain-language summaries, evidence briefs, publication summaries, and other materials that translate findings for non-technical audiences
    • Coordinate translation of M&E documents for global audiences, working with internal teams or external translation support as needed
    • Conduct literature reviews and background research to support abstracts, manuscripts, proposals, reports, and evidence briefs
    • Work with cross-functional teams to understand data and evidence needs and promote consistent use of M&E findings, publications, and other evidence-based materials

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, global health, epidemiology, social sciences, health economics, statistics, international development, data science, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, impact measurement, global health, public health research, program evaluation, project management, or research project coordination
    • Experience managing complex projects or cross-functional workstreams with internal teams, consultants, vendors, and external partners
    • Experience supporting technical concept notes, proposal development, project budgets, scopes of work, and cross-functional project planning
    • Experience supporting M&E frameworks, indicators, data collection systems, reporting, evaluations, or evidence-generation projects
    • Experience or familiarity with quantitative and qualitative data methods, including managing, analyzing, and interpreting program data, surveys, interviews, case studies, or thematic analysis
    • Experience or familiarity with evaluation tools, survey design, data collection instruments, analysis plans, and methods documentation
    • Experience coordinating abstracts, publications, and conference submissions.
    • Familiarity with regulatory, ethics, IRB, or institutional submissions related to research, evaluation, or publication activities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with SPSS, REDCap, SurveyMonkey, or other data and visualization tools preferred
    • Ability to translate data into clear insights, findings, visuals, and recommendations for non-technical audiences
    • Experience working in global health, access to medicines, oncology, health systems strengthening, or LMIC-focused programs preferred
    • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; fluency in French, Spanish, or another language a plus
