    Description

    Fiesta Youth is on a mission to provides a safe, non-judgmental, and affirming place for LGBTQ+ youth to express and explore who they are through education, peer support, and friendship. We empower youth to build confidence, resilience, and community through inclusive programming, compassionate mentorship, and advocacy for equality. We’re looking for a highly skilled executive director to help us fulfill this important undertaking. Reporting to the board of directors, the executive director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiencies of our programs and staff. Experience in hiring and managing staff and volunteers is essential, and established relationships with local LGBTQ+community is a plus. Above all, the executive director should be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills and decisiveness.

    Objectives of this role

    • Work closely with board directorsand committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization
    • Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive directionfor program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance
    • Identify and addressstaffing and volunteer requirements for efficient operations, and maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains peoplewhile driving the organization’s mission
    • Increase awareness of the organization by being the main spokesperson and liaison with local media
    • Develop an actionable plan for fundraising and managing monthlycash flow

    Key Responsibilities

    Organizational Leadership & Strategic Vision

    • Lead the implementation of Fiesta Youth’smission, vision, and strategic goals.
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to establish and implement strategic priorities, policies, and long-term sustainability plans.
    • Promote a positive,inclusive, and mission-centered organizational culture.
    • Serve as a spokesperson and ambassador for Fiesta Youth within the community and among partner organizations.

    Program Oversight

    • Oversee all youthand family programming to ensure alignment with Fiesta Youth’s mission, values, and safety standards.
    • Support staff and program leads in maintaining an affirming, trauma-informed, and youth-centered approach.
    • Evaluate program impact and outcomes, and identifyopportunities for growthand innovation.
    • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in LGBTQ+ youth services and community engagement.

    Volunteer Management

    • Recruit, train, supervise, and recognize volunteers who support Fiesta Youth programs and events.
    • Develop and maintainsystems for volunteer onboarding, scheduling, and communication.
    • Foster a cultureof appreciation and belonging amongvolunteers, ensuring alignment with Fiesta Youth’s values.
    • Collaborate with volunteerleaders to buildleadership capacity within the organization.

    Fundraising & Development

    • Coordinate all fundraising and resource development efforts with the Development Committee Chair, including individual giving, grants, sponsorships, and special events.
    • Build and maintainstrong relationships with donors, partners, and community supporters.
    • Collaborate with the Development Committee to ensure diverseand sustainable funding streams.
    • Oversee donor acknowledgment and stewardship practicesthat reflect Fiesta Youth’s gratitude and values.

    Financial & Operational Management

    • Oversee the organization’s financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal, fiscal, and regulatory requirements.
    • Manage the organization’s resources responsibly to ensure mission-driven impact and sustainability.
    • Maintain effective administrative systems, technology tools,and internal communication processes.

    Board Relations

    • Serve as the primary liaisonbetween the staffand Board of Directors.
    • Provide timely and accurate information to support the board’s decision-making and governance.
    • Assist with board recruitment, orientation, and development.
    • Support the implementation of Board policies,strategic initiatives, and organizational accountability measures.

    Community Engagement & Advocacy

    • Represent Fiesta Youth in community collaborations, public speakingengagements, and media appearances.
    • Cultivate partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and local organizations to enhance services for LGBTQ+ youth and their families.
    • Advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion, equality,and youth well-being across diverse community settings.
    • Uphold Fiesta Youth’svisibility and leadership in promoting inclusivity throughout San Antonio and beyond.

    Required skills and qualifications

    • Demonstrated commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, equity, and youth empowerment.
    • 3–5 years of nonprofit leadership, management, or equivalent experience.
    • Proven experience in volunteer management, fundraising, and communitypartnerships.
    • Strong skills in communication, organizational leadership, and strategic planning.
    • Experience managing budgetsand supervising staffand volunteers.

    Preferred skills andqualifications

    • Experience working directlywith LGBTQ+ youth or marginalized communities.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and youth development practices.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, social work, education, or related fields.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary range:$50,000
    • $60,000commensurate with experience.
    • Benefits include[paid time off, flexible scheduling, and professional development opportunities].
    • Typical schedule:Full-time (some eveningsand weekends are required for programming and events).
