    Development Operations Assistant

    Established with the mission of providing access without barriers, Kaufman Music Center proudly programs a comprehensive musical experience for students, performers and audiences in New York and beyond. Merkin Hall, the Center’s intimate performance venue, provides unparalleled access to today’s most compelling artists, workshops, and competitions, offering students, artists and audiences alike the chance to share music at the highest level. Its acclaimed Artist-in-Residence program also gives those performers the resources to develop groundbreaking, multidisciplinary projects as well as educational opportunities to mentor and inspire. Kaufman Music Center continuously cultivates and nurtures new generations of artists through Special Music School, New York’s only K-12 public school prioritizing an intensive, immersive, and musically-focused education without financial barriers, as well as Lucy Moses School, Manhattan’s largest community performing arts school for students of all ages.

    Kaufman Music Center is seeking a Development Operations Assistant to join its Development Department. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Events and Individual Giving and provide backline administrative assistance and data optimization for the full team in support of the Center’s mission and fundraising goals.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Prepare gift entry and acknowledgments for all individual donors.
    • Maintain Tessitura fundraising database, including but not limited to donor records, reporting, and list segmentation.
    • Maintain organized crediting documents, including Annual Fund listing, ensuring accurate data and recognition across brochures, programs, and online platforms.
    • Collaborate across departments to ensure all enrolled families and students are captured accurately in Tessitura fundraising database.
    • Work with Senior Manager, Events and Individual Giving to optimize fundraising processes and ensure all staff are regularly receiving bi-weekly prospect and renewal lists.
    • Lead once-monthly wealth screening and ensure proper coding of all high potential individuals to ensure follow-up communications take place.
    • Organize and prepare donor data for mailings, mass emails, etc.
    • Participate in other administrative duties as assigned.

    Other requirements:

    • Proficiency with Tessitura or other database/CRM software
    • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Windows OS
    • Strong attention to detail, data, and follow-through, including streamlining/automating processes
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
    • Enthusiasm for Kaufman Music Center’s mission
    • Eagerness to unlock new opportunities that connect prospective supporters with the Center’s work
    • Positivity, flexibility, and resourcefulness in a deadline-driven environment

    The position is a part-time variable-hour role, approximately 12-15 hours per week September through June and limited work in July and August, in person.
