    Description

    Overview:

    Progress Michigan’s mission is to provide a strong credible voice that holds public officials and government accountable, assists in the promotion of progressive ideas and uses cutting-edge digital media strategies to creatively build grassroots support for progressive issues.

    We’re looking for a talented Program Director to join our staff to continue to build on Progress Michigan’s work. The ideal candidate will be ready to jump right in to manage a research team, develop hard-hitting messages, and support our partners in a fast-paced environment. The Progress Michigan team is small but effective and we’re looking for the same low-ego, high output drive from any new team member. This is a full-time position which can be primarily remote with occasional visits to the Lansing office and occasional visits to the Detroit office.

    Responsibilities include:

    Communications

    • Assist with Communications capacity for Progress Michigan including drafting communications materials, editing, reviewing, pitch calls, and rapid response
    • Oversee project completion and coordination, working closely with colleagues in communications, finance, creative, and digital teams
    • Manage narrative building trainings and programs to serve partner organizations
    • Other duties as assigned

    Research

    • Oversee Lake Effect polling research project and the staff responsible for building it
    • Oversee accountability work around Big Tech and consumer safety, including the development of high impact reports and messages
    • Create research memos based on polling and message testing results to be shared with internal team members and external stakeholders

    Partnerships

    • Collaborate with team members to manage partnerships and opportunities for Progress Michigan
    • Work with executive director to build programmatic fundraising plans and partnerships across both our 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) organizations

    Requirements

    • Minimum of five years professional experience in communications, political campaigns, or project/program management
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
    • Working knowledge of Google Suite and project management software
    • Experience managing others
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
    • Proven ability to multi-task
    • Experience working and thriving in this type of role in a hybrid environment
    • Comfortable in a fast-paced office environment
    • Able to think quickly on your feet

    Because negotiating is inherently inequitable, we want to be transparent about what salary and benefits we can offer upfront and avoid negotiation. The starting salary for this position is $75,000. In addition, Progress Michigan offers a competitive benefits package which includes, Health, Vision and Dental coverage as well as paid vacation, paid sick leave and 401K match.
