    Somos Un Pueblo Unido (Somos) is a statewide mission-driven racial and economic justice nonprofit organization dedicated to organizing immigrant families and low-wage workers across New Mexico. Through community organizing, leadership development, grassroots policy advocacy, civic engagement, and workforce equity initiatives, Somos works to ensure immigrant and working families have access to economic opportunity and safe, quality jobs.

    The Workforce Development Policy Coordinator advances Somos’ workforce equity agenda by supporting grassroots policy design, research, implementation, and legislative advocacy efforts that expand access to adult education, job training, and economic mobility for immigrant, low-wage, rural, and oil and gas workers.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Support workforce policy development and legislative advocacy
    • Track legislation, budget proposals, and workforce-related administrative rules
    • Draft policy briefs, fact sheets, testimony, and advocacy materials
    • Coordinate advocacy efforts and stakeholder engagement
    • Support leadership development and organizer training
    • Represent Somos in statewide and local workforce development coalitions
    • Develop educational materials explaining workforce programs and policy changes
    • Monitor implementation of workforce investment programs and government initiatives
    • Conduct research and analyze workforce participation and program data
    • Translate research findings into policy recommendations and organizing tools

    Qualifications:

    • 2–4 years of experience in public policy, workforce development, adult education, economic development, or related fields
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
    • Strong commitment to immigrant rights, economic justice, and equity
    • Experience with policy research, analysis, or advocacy
    • Strong writing and communication skills
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    • Ability to travel statewide and engage with rural communities

    Starting salary is $65,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position based on a 32-hour work week with comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.

    Level of Language Proficiency
