    Description

About The Emerging Culinary, Culture & Community Foundation

The Foundation is a Harlem-based, community-centered cultural institution dedicated to preserving, advancing, and activating the foodways of African Americans and the broader African Diaspora as systems of knowledge, cultural authority, and economic opportunity.

Founded by a James Beard Award-winning chef, restaurateur, author, and cultural activist, the Foundation is building the infrastructure to document, interpret, and sustain one of the world’s most influential yet underrecognized bodies of cultural knowledge. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in Delaware and currently operates under fiscal sponsorship with the Fund for the City of New York (FCNY).

    Consulting Opportunity

The Foundation seeks an experienced Partnerships, Resource Development & Sustainability Consultant to build the relationships, resource-development systems, and sustainability strategy needed to support the Foundation’s planning, launch, and early growth.

The consultant will identify and cultivate mission-aligned partners and funders; develop a practical funding and partnership pipeline; support priority funding submissions; and recommend an operating and revenue model that supports the Foundation’s long-term mission, programs, and capacity.

The consultant will work closely with the Founder, Board Chair, designated Board members, the Strategy, Programs & Organizational Development Consultant, funders, prospective partners, and other Foundation advisors.

    Key Deliverables

      1. Partnership Development Strategy and Pipeline
      2. A prioritized portfolio of prospective and active partners, including relationship status, strategic value, relevant contacts, proposed opportunities, recommended next steps, and responsibilities for cultivation.
      3. Funding and Sponsorship Prospect Pipeline
      4. A practical tracking system for prospective foundations, individual donors, corporate sponsors, public funding opportunities, and other resource-development prospects, including timelines, eligibility, strategic fit, estimated opportunity, status, and next steps.
      5. Resource Development and Cultivation Plan
      6. A six- to twelve-month plan outlining priority funding opportunities, relationship-development strategies, submission calendar, Board engagement opportunities, and recommended sequencing.
      7. Sustainable Operating and Revenue Model Recommendations
      8. An assessment of feasible revenue sources and recommendations for a mission-aligned, diversified operating model that may include philanthropy, grants, sponsorships, partnerships, individual giving, program-related revenues, and other appropriate earned-income opportunities.
      9. Priority Funding and Partnership Materials
      10. Development or coordination of agreed-upon materials, such as grant proposals, letters of inquiry, sponsorship packages, institutional partnership briefs, funder presentations, and cultivation communications.
      11. Board Engagement Recommendations
      12. Practical recommendations for leveraging Board relationships, expertise, and networks in support of partnerships, fundraising, sponsorship, visibility, and long-term institutional growth.
      13. Final Resource Development and Partnership Transition Report
      14. A summary of prospects and relationships developed, submissions completed or in progress, systems established, near-term opportunities, risks, outstanding actions, and recommendations for the next phase.

      • Significant experience in nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, institutional partnerships, sponsorship development, business development, cultural-sector resource development, or related fields.
      • Demonstrated success developing relationships with foundations, individual donors, corporations, cultural institutions, educational institutions, public agencies, and community-based organizations.
      • Experience developing grant proposals, sponsorship materials, funding strategies, prospect pipelines, cultivation plans, and donor or partner tracking systems.
      • Experience developing sustainable nonprofit business models, diversified revenue strategies, or early-stage organizational financial sustainability plans.
      • Ability to represent a mission-driven organization effectively with senior stakeholders, funders, collaborators, Board members, and community partners.
      • Strong judgment, discretion, project-management capability, relationship-building skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.
