    Description

    Job description:

The Emmanuel Gospel Center (EGC) empowers the Church to see the Shalom of its community in Greater Boston and beyond. Through applied research, systems practice, ministry development, and storytelling, we help Christian leaders better understand their communities, strengthen their ministries, and join in God's work across our region. We believe the Church is uniquely positioned to contribute to the flourishing of our neighborhoods, and we exist to equip it for that work.

We are seeking an Administrative Manager who creates executive capacity by bringing structure, follow-through, and reliable systems to recurring work. As the Executive Director's primary administrative partner and the main coordinator for Board administration, you will ensure meetings are well prepared, follow-up happens, information is organized, and recurring work is supported by reliable systems rather than memory.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy bringing order to complexity, anticipating what will be needed, and closing loops without repeated direction. You write clearly, learn new tools quickly, and take satisfaction in helping other people stay focused and prepared. You can manage predictable responsibilities while exercising good judgment when the work becomes less predictable.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Executive and Board Support

    • Manage the Executive Director's calendar, meetings, travel, scheduling, and related logistics
    • Prepare agendas, background materials, correspondence, presentations, reports, and meeting follow-up
    • Track commitments, action items, and deadlines so priorities continue moving between meetings
    • Conduct focused background research and organize information to support executive preparation and decision-making
    • Coordinate Board and committee calendars, meetings, packets, minutes, governance records, and follow-up
    • Maintain discretion with confidential Board, personnel, donor, and organizational information

    Administrative Systems and Organizational Rhythms

    • Develop templates, checklists, workflows, automations, and documentation that make recurring administrative work easier to complete and transfer
    • Coordinate staff meetings, recurring communications, shared calendars, reminders, and administrative deadlines
    • Organize shared files and records so information is easy to find, maintain, and hand off
    • Learn and apply AI and other emerging tools to reduce repetitive work and strengthen administrative effectiveness
    • Continually simplify and improve executive, Board, and shared administrative processes

    Office and Organizational Coordination

    • Carry out routine office administration, including meeting-room readiness, hospitality, supplies, registrations, mail, and shared logistics
    • Coordinate routine scheduling and logistics with workplace vendors using established processes, and flag needs that require HR & Operations ownership
    • Support organization-wide meetings and events and provide shared administrative help for needs that do not sit within a single department
    • Help visitors, partners, donors, Board members, and staff experience an organization that is welcoming, prepared, and responsive

    SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE

    • 3-7 years of experience in administrative management, executive support, Board support, operations, project coordination, or a similar role
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex scheduling, meeting preparation, and follow-through with limited direction
    • Excellent written communication, editing, proofreading, and document-formatting skills
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, confidence in learning and adopting new platforms, and openness to using AI tools to reduce repetitive work and strengthen administrative systems
    • Ability to create practical systems while maintaining careful attention to daily details.
    • Sound judgment, proactive communication, and consistent follow-through across competing priorities

    CRITICAL QUALITIES

    • Mature Christian faith, as defined by active participation in a local church, agreement with the Apostles' Creed, and a life consistent with the character of a Christian leader described in 1 Timothy 3:1-10
    • Passion for EGC's mission and a desire to serve others through excellent administrative support
    • Cultural humility and the ability to work well across lines of difference
    • A learner's posture marked by curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to continual improvement

    COMPENSATION

We offer an annual salary range of $67,000- $ 73,000 for this full-time position, depending on experience. This includes medical and dental coverage, a 4% retirement contribution after one year, four weeks of vacation annually, and a sabbatical policy rewarding long-term commitment.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, individual-contributor role reporting to the Executive Director. It is a hybrid position based in Dorchester, with an expectation of in-office presence three full workdays per week. Candidates must be local and able to commute to the office regularly.
