    Description

    Our Community LA (OCLA), a Los Angeles-based nonprofit, is looking for a Part-Time Coordinator to oversee our Community College Outreach Program which supports and connects struggling community college students to community-based agencies that offer free suportive services. The ideal candidate will approach this 20 hour/week position with a minimum commitment of 12 months, a passion for nonprofit work and a strong desire to support community college students and staff! This position is open and and we are looking to fill the position as soon as possible- ideally by August 3d!

    Responsibilities: The Coordinator, with support from OCLA’s President and staff, works with eleven participating college campuses, overseeing campus outreach to educate students about the free WIN What I Need Resource app and HUD Housing Advocacy Survey. (The goal of the Housing Survey is to help students learn if they qualify for HUD Housing and empower them to advocate for themselves.)

    Specific Responsibilities may include: developing and maintaining relationships with college offices and staff and student groups, and conducting education and outreach to students through event tabling, social media campaigns, workshops and presentations. The coordinator will also recruit, train and support student WIN Ambassadors on participating campuses. The Coordinator will also oversee ongoing Social Media Outreach Campaigns with the goal of raising awareness about WIN and the Housing Survey among selected campuses and may post on OCLA’s social media about campus outreach efforts

    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
    • Ability and Willingness to travel to site meetings
    • Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email)
    • Excellent presentation, oral, and written skills

    Candidates must reside in LA County and must be comfortable working independently from home/other remote locations. Personal travel is required to campuses for in-person meetings and events with college administrative staff as well as students. (travel is reimbursed). The Coordinator is expected to attend weekly staff meetings, held via Zoom or other on-line communications. Coordinator will be provided a Chrome Book along with training and should be comfortable with regular online use of a computer for research, communications, Google Drive, email/phone communication, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Presentation etc), Canva and orderly record keeping and event/date scheduling. Coordinator must be able to commit to performing most job-related duties (such as campus visits, meetings and staff calls, during the traditional 9am-5pm M-F work week and commit to a weekly morning staff call or meeting.

    Applicants with nonprofit outreach and/or community education on-the-job experience. and/or Applicants with prior personal college experience will be prioritized. Applicants with a lived experience of homelessness or resource-insecurity or those who are uniquely interested about serving the student community are particularly encouraged to apply
