Description
The Position (In-Person) Oakland or San Francisco, CA
Soccer Without Borders (SWB) is seeking a Girls Program Coordinator to lead school-based after-school programming for newcomer girls at public schools in Oakland or San Francisco. In Oakland, the Coordinator will serve as head coach for a middle school girls' team; in San Francisco, as head coach for high school girls' teams. We are hiring for both locations and will match candidates with the community and program that best fit their strengths, experience, and interests. The position has the following key responsibilities:
- Program Design & Delivery: Lead holistic, youth-centered programming year-round, including after-school and summer programs; plan and facilitate English-integrated soccer practices, games, community-building activities, and educational support; adapt sessions to age and ability; build a positive, inclusive team culture with clear team rules.
- Recruitment, Retention & Family Engagement: Lead player recruitment and retention; get to know every participant and their family; prepare for games and coordinate transportation with your supervisor.
- School Partnership & Academic Support: Maintain a presence on campus 1-2 days per week; collaborate with school staff; monitor participants' academic performance and attendance; support school engagement through 1-on-1 academic check-ins, social-emotional learning circles, pullouts, and push-ins; maintain healthy relationships with school site staff and community partners.
- Impact Capture & Reporting: Provide timely attendance and academic reporting in coordination with SWB staff.
- Hub & Organization-Wide Participation: Actively participate in weekly team meetings at Oakland International High School; complete SWB's comprehensive training in restorative practices, social-emotional learning, coaching craft, and school partnerships; support and attend SWB events, including fundraising events.
This position reports directly to a Program Director or Senior Program Coordinator, depending on location. SWB supervisors use a modern approach to performance management through regular one-on-one check-ins focused on goal-setting, impact, wellness, and competency mentorship. Every year, staff members give and receive 360-degree feedback (feedback from/for peers) and participate in a performance review assessment with their supervisor.
