    Description

Swift Sports Organisation — Uganda, East Africa

    About Us

Swift Sports Organisation is a grassroots, community-based organisation located in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, Uganda.

Our journey began in 2018, when our founder and coach moved to Kiteezi with a simple but powerful dream: to use sport as a tool for addressing challenges within the community and creating opportunities for people who are often overlooked.

It started with small evening gatherings for netball and fitness training. One single mother joined the coach and invited three of her friends. From that modest beginning, a community movement began to grow.

With the support of a local school, which allowed us to use its playground three days a week, our activities soon attracted children, young people, women, and men from across the community. By 2019, we had established four clubs in different sporting categories. We participated in a seasonal tournament and proudly won a trophy, a goat, and UGX 500,000.

The achievement filled our members with excitement and gave us confidence in what we could build together.

    Overcoming Challenges

Like many organisations around the world, our progress was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Our activities stopped, our structure was weakened, and many of our members were unable to continue.

However, our dream did not disappear.

We relocated with a small group of committed members to Kazo in Nansana Division, Wakiso District. We resumed training, welcomed new members, and slowly began rebuilding.

As our activities grew again, we realised that sports training alone could not address all the challenges facing the people we served. Together with several mature and committed members, our founder began developing the idea of becoming a formally recognised community-based organisation.

In 2022, Swift Sports Organisation was officially registered as a community-based organisation in Nansana Municipality.

    Where We Are Today

Since our registration, we have continued running sports activities in netball, football, and rugby. We are also developing community programmes designed to support disadvantaged children, girls who have left school, and single mothers.

Our programmes and areas of focus include:

    Educational support for children

    Skills development for single mothers

    Basic education classes

    Child nutrition support

    Sports talent identification and development

    Mentorship and community wellbeing initiatives

Some of these programmes have been implemented on a small scale, while others are waiting for the resources, leadership, and partnerships needed to become fully active.

Until now, our activities and office operations have largely depended on temporary donations from local and international well-wishers. We are deeply grateful for every contribution. At the same time, we recognise that lasting impact requires stronger systems, sustainable projects, long-term partnerships, and shared leadership.

    Our Vision

To fight poverty by discovering and developing sports talent.

    Our Mission

To discover, develop, promote, and support the wellbeing of disadvantaged single mothers, girls, and children through sport, education, skills development, and community-based programmes.

We Are Seeking an International Director

Since 2018, much of the responsibility for building and sustaining Swift Sports Organisation has rested on the shoulders of our founder. We now believe it is time to welcome another committed leader into our journey.

As the saying goes, two heads are better than one.

We are seeking an International Director who will become a genuine partner in developing the organisation and advancing its mission. This is more than a title. We are looking for someone who is ready to help initiate ideas, build strong systems, develop partnerships, mobilise resources, implement projects, and follow them through to completion.

The right person will be mature, trustworthy, compassionate, and experienced in guiding an organisation, project, business, or social cause towards sustainable growth.

This is not a traditional employment, freelance, or short-term volunteer opportunity. We are looking for an independent and stable person who shares our values and is interested in helping establish the long-term future of Swift Sports Organisation.

The ideal person will bring strengths in areas such as:

    Organisational leadership and governance

    International partnerships and networking

    Fundraising and resource mobilisation

    Project development and implementation

    Social investment and sustainable development

    Financial planning and accountability

    Strategic communication and professional representation

Most importantly, we are seeking someone who believes in the potential of sport to transform lives and who is willing to build with us patiently, responsibly, and wholeheartedly.

    Partnership and Compensation

The proposed compensation will be connected to a mutually agreed share in the organisation’s future growth and income-generating projects, subject to appropriate legal, financial, and governance arrangements.

As the organisation’s projects grow, both the Founder Director and the International Director will benefit through the value and opportunities created together.

We encourage interested individuals to read this opportunity carefully and reflect on it more than once. We are not simply filling a position—we are inviting the right person to help shape a meaningful and lasting legacy.

    Benefits

The International Director will have the opportunity to:

Gain meaningful international and cross-cultural experience

Contribute to the growth of a grassroots African organisation

Help transform the lives of children, girls, and single mothers

Build professional networks and community partnerships

Participate in developing sustainable sports and social-impact projects

Become part of an organisation with a long-term vision for community transformation

    Language Proficiency

Strong English communication skills are important. Knowledge of additional international languages would be an advantage.

We would be deeply grateful to welcome a committed person who is ready to believe in this vision, walk alongside us, and help turn the dreams of Swift Sports Organisation into sustainable impact.

    Yours faithfully,

    Kayanja Phillip Mwesigwa
