    AssistList is seeking a passionate and community-minded individual to join as an Executive Director for a one-year term. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of a growing, volunteer-led charity while making a meaningful impact in your community.

    Role Overview

    AssistList is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization into its next phase of growth and impact. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for executing the organization’s strategy, overseeing operations and strengthening community relationships.

    This is a unique opportunity to lead a mission-driven, volunteer-powered organization and play a key role in improving access to essential equipment across British Columbia.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Executive Director leads the development, oversight and continuous improvement of AssistList’s core functions:

    1) Strategic Leadership & Governance

    • Execute AssistList’s strategic plan in alignment with the Board
    • Provide regular updates, insights, and recommendations to support Board decision-making
    • Support organizational compliance, accountability and annual reporting requirements

    2) Platform & Service Delivery

    • Oversee the performance and operation of the AssistList platform to ensure listings, content and resources remain accurate and accessible
    • Incorporate healthcare and community insights to align services with user needs
    • Support customer service processes to maintain a safe and responsive user experience

    3) Volunteer & Team Leadership

    • Recruit, support and engage a diverse volunteer team
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive and mission-driven culture
    • Align teams across functions to deliver on organizational priorities

    4) Community Engagement & Partnerships

    • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers and key stakeholders
    • Support outreach and expansion efforts across British Columbia
    • Represent AssistList in community initiatives and partnerships

    5) Marketing & Communications

    • Oversee digital marketing efforts, including website content, SEO and social media
    • Guide traditional marketing initiatives such as events, partnerships and promotional materials
    • Ensure consistent, clear, and mission-aligned messaging across all channels

    6) Fundraising & Sustainability

    • Lead fundraising efforts, including grants, sponsorships and campaigns
    • Oversee initiatives such as the annual silent auction

    7) Financial & Administrative Operations

    • Oversee financial administration processes, including annual budgeting, expense approvals, reimbursements and operational tracking
    • Coordinate organizational administration, including the Annual General Meeting, society membership records and regulatory filings
    • Support the implementation and maintenance of organizational policies, procedures and bylaws

    Ideal Candidate

    • Experience in nonprofit leadership, community development and program management
    • Strong organizational and strategic thinking skills
    • Experience working with or leading volunteer teams
    • Background or interest in healthcare, accessibility or community services is an asset
    • Familiarity with digital platforms, marketing or product management is a plus
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
    • Self-motivated, collaborative and adaptable in a dynamic environment

    Work Environment

    AssistList is a fully remote, volunteer-driven organization, with team members connecting through Google Meet and Slack.

    We value flexibility while staying connected as a local community. Candidates should be based in Metro Vancouver, with opportunities to meet in person at team gatherings and volunteer socials held up to twice a year.
