    About SIECUS

SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change is a national organization that envisions an equitable nation where all people receive sex education, are affirmed in their identities, and have power to make decisions about their own health, pleasure, and wholeness. We work towards this vision by driving policy change at federal and state level, shaping public narratives and action, and translating policy analysis and evidence into action.

    Position Summary

SIECUS seeks a Senior Development Manager to inform and execute the organization’s fundraising efforts across individual, foundation, and corporate revenue streams. This role is ideal for a development professional who thrives in a small, entrepreneurial environment and is excited to engage across all aspects of fundraising operations. The Senior Development Manager reports to and will work in close partnership with the Executive Director, who oversees fundraising strategy and donor engagement.

Success in this role requires passion for SIECUS’ mission, ability to contribute to fundraising strategy while also implementing day-to-day processes, exceptional project management, strong written and oral communication skills, and experience using donor databases and fundraising systems to drive results.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising strategy and execution

    • In partnership with the Executive Director, support the development and implementation of an integrated annual fundraising plan across individual giving, foundation support, and corporate partnerships.
    • Track fundraising revenue and key performance indicators, prepare monthly fundraising reports and analyses, and recommend adjustments as needed.
    • Coordinate fundraising activities across the SIECUS team to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and programmatic efforts.
    • Manage fundraising project plans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure goals are met.

    Individual giving

    • Support individual donor cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation activities, including through conversations with individual donors.
    • Identify and research major and planned gift prospects.
    • Prepare donor research, briefing materials, meeting preparation documents, and follow-up communications for the Executive Director and other organizational leaders.
    • Plan and execute at least two major individual giving campaigns annually across digital, direct mail, and other channels.
    • Draft donor communications, appeals, acknowledgments, stewardship materials, and SIECUS' annual impact report.
    • Maintain donor engagement plans and track cultivation and stewardship activities to ensure timely follow-up.

    Foundation and corporate giving

    • Manage grant and report development processes, including drafting proposals and reports in partnership with the Executive Director and SIECUS program staff.
    • Conduct prospect research and maintain profiles on foundation, corporate, and institutional funding opportunities.
    • Manage the grants calendar and ensure timely submission of all proposals, reports, and related materials.
    • Support the Executive Director in cultivating and stewarding foundation and corporate funders by coordinating meetings, materials, follow-up actions, and relationship tracking.

    Development operations and systems

    • Serve as the primary administrator and expert user of EveryAction for SIECUS.
    • Maintain accurate donor records, segmentation strategies, and reports.
    • Build and manage lists, dashboards, and campaign tracking systems.
    • Process gifts, send acknowledgments, and coordinate with the Director of Finance and Operations to ensure appropriate reporting of revenue.

    Board engagement and administrative support

    • Support board engagement in fundraising efforts by preparing materials, tracking fundraising commitments and follow-up actions, and maintaining donor engagement records.
    • Assist the Executive Director with preparing fundraising updates, reports, and presentation materials for the Board of Directors.

    Qualifications

    • 7+ years of non-profit fundraising experience; individual giving experience is required.
    • Understanding of and belief in SIECUS’ mission, vision, and values, including a commitment to reproductive and racial justice.
    • Demonstrated success managing multiple revenue streams and meeting fundraising goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze and visualize fundraising data to inform strategy adjustments.
    • Familiarity with the domestic fundraising landscape related to sex education. Relevant domains could include: sexual and reproductive health, violence prevention, youth development and mental health, racial justice, reproductive justice, gender equity, and/or LGBTQIA+ rights.
    • Proven ability to partner with an Executive Director or senior leader in fundraising.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail, personal accountability, and proactive approach to moving projects forward.
    • Demonstrated ability to write excellent and compelling grants, donor reports, and individual giving communications.
    • Experience utilizing EveryAction or comparable nonprofit CRM platforms for donor management, segmentation, reporting, and campaign execution. Experience with EveryAction is strongly preferred.
    • High emotional intelligence, discretion, and relationship management skills.
    • Ability to travel domestically approximately 3-4 times a year.
