POSITION OVERVIEW
Elluminate seeks an experienced Manager of Communications to develop and execute of the organization’s communications plan, social media strategy, and special initiatives that advance Elluminate’s mission.
This role is for an exceptional writer, editor and digital content creator. The Manager will oversee multiple projects and deadlines, working cross-collaboratively with staff, Board members, consultants, designers, event planners and other vendors to ensure that Elluminate’s communication strategy is aligned with broader strategic organizational goals.
The Manager will oversee Elluminate’s communications calendar and production, including fundraising initiatives and donor communications, program recruitment and writing compelling impact stories, newsletters and publications, website and social media, as well as maintain the organization’s editorial style and messaging tools.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, writes and edits extremely well, has strong editorial and visual judgment, knows how to manage complex projects and enjoys working collaboratively as part of a small, mission-driven team.
RESPONSIBILITIES – Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Elluminate team, the Communication and Marketing Manager will be responsible for the following:
Communications
- Manage Elluminate’s communications calendar and day-to-day execution of external communications across fundraising, programs, events and organizational initiatives.
- Manage the production and distribution of Elluminate’s public email communications, including drafting and editing copy, coordinating content and approvals, building and formatting emails, managing distribution lists and scheduling and sending communications.
- Write, edit, produce and distribute the monthly newsletter, fundraising appeals and campaigns, donor communications, program recruitment, event invitations and promotion, organizational announcements and other public emails.
- Work closely with development staff to create communications supporting fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, including appeals, donor updates, sponsorship materials, event fundraising communications and other donor-facing materials.
- Work closely with program staff on recruitment and communications for The Collective, Visionary Circle, the Global Jewish Women’s Leadership Network and other programs and initiatives.
- Develop stories and content that demonstrate Elluminate’s impact and elevate the work and leadership of the women we support.
- Manage the development and production of major organizational publications and materials, including the Annual Report, Annual Luncheon Journal, brochures, fundraising materials, program materials and special projects.
- Maintain and update Elluminate’s website, ensuring content is current, accurate and engaging.
- Manage Elluminate’s social media presence, including planning, creating, scheduling and posting content.
- Write and edit copy across platforms, maintaining a consistent organizational voice and high editorial standards.
- Coordinate graphic design and production of print and digital materials, working with designers, printers and other vendors.
- Support organizational marketing and branding initiatives.
Events
- Manage invitations, registration, recruitment and attendee communications.
- Work closely with development staff on event sponsorship and fundraising communications, donor recognition and related materials.
- Oversee the production of event-related materials, including invitations, programs, signage, journals, presentations and other collateral.
- Serve as a key staff lead during events, coordinating with staff, event planners and vendors to ensure successful day-of execution.
- Manage the production and logistics of webinars and other virtual public programs.
- Support event logistics and communications for The Collective, Visionary Circle and other Elluminate programs and gatherings as needed.
Project Management & Collaboration
- Develop and create project management plans and oversee project budgets.
- Coordinate projects across teams ensuring deadlines are clear and deliverables are met.
- Manage relationships and deliverables with external designers, printers, event planners, photographers, videographers and other vendors.
- Work collaboratively across a small staff where teamwork, flexibility and willingness to pitch-in are essential.
- Support special projects and other organizational priorities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- At least six – eight years of relevant professional experience,, in communications, events, marketing, nonprofit management or a related field.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with demonstrated ability to create clear and compelling content for different audiences and platforms.
- Strong project-management skills and demonstrated ability to take projects from concept through execution.
- Experience developing communications supporting fundraising, donor engagement, program recruitment or other mission-driven initiatives.
- Experience planning and executing events and managing logistics, timelines, vendors and day-of production.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience producing print and digital publications and working with graphic designers, printers and other production vendors.
- Strong visual judgment and proficiency with Canva or comparable tools; professional graphic design experience is not required.
- Experience managing website content, email marketing and social media.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects and follow through.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, consultants and vendors.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends in connection with events.
- Salary: Approximately $85,000- $90,000, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Experience with marketing and branding is a plus. Direct nonprofit fundraising experience is also a plus.
