    Description

    Position Overview:

    The Speech Language-Pathologist (SLP) Volunteer is a full-time position that reports to the Rehabilitation Director of Hillside Clinic. The SLP has primary responsibility to maintain and provide patient care in a community based rehab model while supervising students.

    Daily activities range from direct patient care in the clinic or patient's homes, traveling to remote villages, and collaborating with various community organizations to increase public awareness. This position works in close collaboration with the Hillside Directors and Rehab Team regarding all aspects of the provision of services, clinical, and educational programs.

    Overview of Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate with the Belize Ministry of Health (MOH) / Ministry of Education ( MOE) to comply with all applicable regulations regarding the practice of Speech Therapy / Disability Awareness in Belize
    • Provision of safe, accurate and appropriate outpatient care, home health services and community mobiles
    • Provision of clinical decision support for students, short term preceptors and Rehab staff
    • Assist with the maintenance of the Rehabilitation inventory

    Student Rotation Responsibilities:

    • Act as a preceptor to SLP students during all rotation activities
    • Teach/Coordinate CBR portion of interdisciplinary curriculum
    • Assign and moderate SLP student presentations/projects
    • Be familiar with course related material
    • Participate in Rehab-related lectures and presentations
    • Provide feedback and evaluation to rehab students and Volunteer Physical Therapists as needed
    • Complete academic program assessment tools for SLP students
