Qualifications:
Required:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, education, or related field (or equivalent
experience)
- Prior experience teaching or working with middle/elementary school youth, ideally in informal or
experiential settings
- Background in ecology, natural sciences, or outdoor education
Skills
- Strong classroom/group management skills
- Comfort with hands-on, inquiry-based teaching methods rather than lecture-style
- Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners, including ELL students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Basic organizational skills for materials/inventory management
Logistics
- Reliable transportation or ability to travel to multiple school sites across NYC boroughs daily
- Full weekday availability during school hours for the full Nov-April commitment, weekly meetings,
and prep time outside program hours
Preferred:
- Spanish/English Bilingual proficiency
- Experience in outdoor / environmental education .
- Conflict resolution skills with youth
