    Job Summary

    The Communications and Development Associate supports the Rian Immigrant Center’s external communications and fundraising efforts by managing social media, digital communications, and website updates while assisting with donor stewardship, database management, and fundraising events. This role helps ensure consistent messaging and branding across platforms, supports donor engagement through communications and acknowledgment, and provides logistical and administrative support to the development team to advance the organization’s fundraising and outreach goals.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Communications

    • Support the development and implementation of a communications strategy for the Rian Immigrant Center.
    • Create marketing materials including event materials, end of year reports, donor materials, newsletters, fundraising materials, and program fliers. When appropriate, work with external vendors to obtain printed materials.
    • Maintain Rian’s social media presence by creating content via LinkedIn, Facebook BlueSky, and Instagram.
    • Maintain Rian’s websites - Rian.org and Rianj1.org.

    Development

    • Acknowledge gifts received from individual and corporate donors.
    • Assist with maintaining the development team’s records in Rian’s Development CRM which includes updating information on gifts, contacts, and campaigns, planning and managing events, as well as generating reports and contact lists.
    • Manage distribution lists in GetResponse (email software).
    • Assist the development team with research to support strategic donor engagement.
    • Coordinate attendance, sponsorship, and sponsor recognition for Rian’s major fundraising events.
    • Support other aspects of the planning and execution of major fundraisers, including silent auctions, fund-a-need, and program elements.
    • Provide logistical support for donor meetings and small events.
    • Other administrative tasks and internal duties as needed.

    Skills and Experience

    • 1-2 of years of experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
    • Experience creating original written content for newsletters, blogs, and/or social media
    • Experience creating graphic designs for social media or print media
    • Experience using Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, and BlueSky
    • Familiarity with donor database programs, such as Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce
    • Very high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently with a proactive approach to problem solving;
    • May require some evenings or weekends as needed for internal and external events
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including proofreading/editing
    • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign) is a plus
