Legal Outreach seeks a dynamic, passionate, and committed candidate to serve as the Co-Director of Law-Related Education. In this role, the chosen individual will direct and oversee law-related educational programs that are designed to inspire, motivate, and prepare students from under-resourced communities to reach their full academic and professional potential. The position is ideal for an individual who enjoys creating legal content, thrives on helping students overcome barriers to success, and cares about bridging the gaps for students from under-resourced communities.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities|
Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Program Operations, the Co-Director has the following responsibilities:
- Co-lead the implementation of the Summer Law Institute at partner law schools, including liaising with law school hosts, sponsoring companies/firms, mock trial judges, and other key individuals
- Recruit and train law student interns and coaches for the Summer Law Institute
- Connect with middle school guidance counselors to recruit students
- Develop and update legal fact patterns and legal curricula
- Lead training sessions for middle/high school teachers implementing our legal curricula
- Lead Professional Training Sessions aimed to prepare students for internships in legal institutions
- Provide oversight for the Summer Internship Program
- Oversee the evaluation process for students and summer staff
- Coordinate data collection and reporting for department and staff meetings
- Implement grant and sponsorship programming requirements
- Support other Co-Director in implementation of Constitutional Law Debate Program during the academic year
Requirements
- Candidates must have a JD
- Candidate must have strong oral, writing, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Candidate must be passionate about advancing educational opportunities for urban youth
- Candidate should have trial, appellate, or teaching experience or significant supervisory experience with youth programs.
