ABOUT HUB CYCLING'S BIKE EDUCATION PROGRAMS

HUB Cycling delivers bike education programs to thousands of youth and adults across British Columbia each year. Our courses are customized for various ages and skill levels and are delivered by our team of trained instructors at schools, community centers, and workplaces. Participants build the skills and confidence needed for safe and enjoyable urban cycling, and consistently report cycling more often after taking a course.

HUB Cycling has two primary education programs: Bike to School and StreetWise. Bike to School includes bike safety courses and biking school buses in schools across the province. StreetWise includes online and in person courses for the public, as well as Kids on Wheels, Camps, and specialized courses for specific communities and workplaces.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The StreetWise Programs Manager reports to the Director of Bike Education and oversees HUB Cycling’s StreetWise program, including the StreetWise Cycling Education Centres (SWCEC), StreetWise Online, Kids on Wheels, Camps, progressive courses, workplace cycling workshops, and custom programming. This hands-on role combines program coordination with direct instruction and supports broader bike education initiatives, including Bike to School programs. The StreetWise Manager works closely with the Director on grant and fee-for-service initiatives, program development, funding efforts, and budget oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

StreetWise Program Management & Delivery

• Responsible for planning the annual StreetWise operating plan, setting program goals, and defining measurable outcomes, while ensuring effective use of staff and equipment resources and evaluating program success.
• Coordinate and organize all aspects of StreetWise program delivery, including outreach to community and corporate partners, scheduling, logistics, online courses, camps, progressive courses, workplace workshops, and custom programs.
• Lead annual budget forecasting, course costing, proposal costing, and ongoing budget management to ensure the program runs within budget.
• Monitor and improve program metrics; lead data collection, analysis, and follow-up surveys.
• Manage program equipment and fleet, including bikes, helmets, storage, and vehicles in collaboration with the Bike Education & Equipment Coordinator.
• Act as primary contact for instructors and volunteers regarding schedules, program details, and resources.
• Deliver instruction for StreetWise and other programs (up to 14 hrs a week) while maintaining program quality.
• Support curriculum updates, pilot initiatives, and continuous program improvement efforts.

Broader Bike Education Program Support

• Support the coordination of other bike education programs, ensuring alignment and smooth delivery.
• Assist with participant communications, program promotion, and logistical support.

Grant Development & Reporting Support

• Research and identify grant opportunities; assist with applications and reporting.
• Collect and compile program data for funding and evaluation purposes.

Communications & Public Engagement

• Lead marketing and promotion of StreetWise programs.
• Respond to inquiries from the public, partners, and schools.
• Support social media, website updates, and promotional materials.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years in program management, coordination, operations, or outdoor/recreational education.
• Experience coordinating programs with multiple stakeholders and timelines.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service-oriented approach.
• Knowledge of urban cycling and micromobility practices, rules, and instructional approaches.
• Proficiency with budgeting, spreadsheets, project management software, databases, and communication tools (Google Workspace, MailChimp, Keela, Monday.com, Airtable).
• Ability to travel to program sites across Metro Vancouver.
• Ability to meet the requirements of a Bike Education Instructor including being certified in Standard First Aid & CPR-C, completing the Advance Your Ride training course and are willing to obtain a current Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable populations.

• Passion for Cycling & Micromobility: Confident urban rider and advocate for cycling and micromobility as transportation.

BONUS POINTS FOR:

• Experience in outdoor education or recreation programs with youth or adults.
• Background in the non-profit sector.
• Skills and experience in program evaluation, data collection, reporting, and analysis.
• Experience securing grants, sponsorships, or other funding, and managing program budgets.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility for Modo car share.

TERMS:

This is a position of 28-35 hours/week. Starting late April or May, 2026 with compensation of $29.40-32.64 per hour, depending on alignment with our core requirements, years of additional experience, and the unique value of your lived experience/complementary skills, which we view as a professional asset to our team.

All staff are expected to work remotely part-time. The successful candidate will need access to their own cell phone and a reliable home internet connection. Office space is available several days a week, at 312 Main Street, Vancouver and Bike Education team members are expected to attend an in-person weekly meeting on Wednesdays.
