    Description

    The Education Success Associate is a contracted, part-time position (up to 10 hours per week from September 7, 2026 through June 17, 2027) that reports directly to the Education Programs Manager and must work primarily on-site while educational programming is in session. We anticipate hiring two Education Success Associates for the 2026 - 2027 program year. The anticipated schedule for the 2026 - 2027 program year is as follows:

    Required weekly schedule:

    • Mondays, 3:30 - 6:45 PM
    • Thursdays, 3:30 - 6:45 PM
    • up to 3.5 additional hours per week on a regular schedule, determined by mutual agreement

    No programming/work on federal holidays or during HSTF Winter Break (December 24 to January 1).

    Job Summary: Through a combination of direct service with young people and behind-the-scenes support, Education Success Associates help youth feel connected to HSTF, excited to learn about Afro-Latin culture, and prepared to succeed academically and to plan for life beyond high school. Working alongside Education Team members, the Education Success Associates develop strong relationships with youths in grades 8-12, support education workshops, and help monitor youths’ academic progress. In addition, the Education Success Associates oversee the day-to-day logistics of our tutoring program for 8 - 12th grade students, and create and maintain resources for participants in HSTF’s Caminos: College & Career Pathways program.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Support the Education Success Coordinators during JEA mentoring by modeling behavior and encouraging youth engagement in weekly workshops
    • Implement the tutoring program for JEA & Caminos high school youth, creating a welcoming atmosphere for youth and volunteers while ensuring that academic goals are met
    • Assist with matching youth and volunteers (based on youth needs and interests, volunteer experience, and availability) to create strong tutor and mentor pairs that support youths’ goals
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with youth and volunteers
    • Collect and analyze participant data, such as report cards/transcripts, to monitor academic outcomes and identify academic needs
    • Assist with compiling and maintaining resources for JEA and Caminos participants, such as a directory of scholarship and job training opportunities
    • Carry out recurring tasks for the Caminos program, such as creating and distributing care packages, contributing to a monthly newsletter, translating materials, etc.
    • Maintain accurate and timely administrative records, such as attendance, to ensure that program outcomes are met
    • Support recruitment efforts for participants and volunteers through outreach and in-person events, and assist with organization-wide efforts and events as needed

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Highly desirable skills beyond the minimum requirements include: fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole; translanguaging abilities in Spanish & English (able to move fluidly between both languages and communicate multilingually)
